Sam was at home when Beth pulled in to see how Susan was doing. Sam saw Beth and came out to meet her. "Hi, how are you?" Sam said opening her door for her. "I am fine thank you very much. I came to see how your Mom was feeling." Beth said. Sam and Beth held hands when they got inside the house. Susan was in the kitchen making supper when she heard voices. "Hello Beth are you staying for supper?" Susan asked. "Thank you, I would like to only I am needed at home tonight." Beth said. "Another time than I will send you home some baked cookies I made." Susan said. Beth was handed the cookies and it was time for her to go. "Are you coming for supper?" Beth asked. "I would like to Beth only I also need to spend some time with my family. I would like to take you out." Sam said. "Yes, that would be wonderful when?" Beth asked. "How about Friday?" Sam said. "Sure, I have that day off for a change." Beth said. "Until Friday than I will let you go home since its already getting late." Sam said. "See you soon than." Beth said. Sam bent his head down and kissed her softly. "I love you." Sam said. "And I love you too." Beth said. She drove away and Sam slowly walked back to the house. Sam was looking forward to Friday. He asked for Beth's ring size and had a diamond, ruby, and green colors in a white gold setting. It was going to look lovely on her. He enjoyed their times with the family also. Caleb, Jake, Mark, and Sam were all planning on a Fishing trip the next weekend which should prove to be very interesting since Ruth, Susan, Gene, Naomi, and Beth were also going to be up at Rose Lake which was lovely at any time of the year.
Sam had a busy Friday getting as much cleared up as possible when Richard stopped by for a few moments. "Hi Sam." Richard said. "Hi, how are you?" Sam asked. "I've been better." Richard said. "What's up?" Sam asked. "Jessica has broken up with me. I loved her you know." Richard said. "I am so sorry to hear that." Sam said. "She said something on liking you." Richard said. "Why did she say that?" Sam said. "I mean she just met you not too long ago and now she wants you. I just cannot believe all of this." Richard said. "Next time you see Jessica inform her I am about to propose to Beth tonight and we will hopefully be married soon." Sam said. "I will tell her sorry to trouble you with my problems. Say hi to Beth for me and congratulations." Richard said. "I am sorry for what has happened not on my own doing either. I have never been interested in Jessica just Beth whom I loved for many months now. She is the only young lady for me." Sam said. "I will tell her." Richard said. He left shortly afterwards not seeing Jessica stalking the Mechanic's Shop. She had been watching for Sam to come out for days. She also noticed Beth was not there so it was now or never. By the time she got to the door it was locked and Sam already in his rig had left not bothering to see a lone figure knocking on the Mechanic's Shop door.
Beth was waiting for Sam when he pulled in. He had text her telling her Richard had stopped by to see him and would be a little late. Now he was pulling into her driveway. Beth had her purse and coat ready to go. "I see Sam is here." Ruth said. "Yes, Mom he is. We will be late." Beth said. "Not too late I hope?" Ruth said. "No, Mom we will be home around 10:30 or 11:00 PM." Beth said. Ruth gave them time to drive up there and back Susan and Ruth had planned this time out so well they would eat up town and that gave them time to make a celebration cake, ice cream and some of Sam and Beth's favorite fruit. "Mom are you up to something?" Beth asked. "Who me?" Ruth said wiggling her eyebrows. Beth laughed when Sam came for her. "Wow! You look great." Sam said. "Thank you Sam are we ready to go?" Beth asked. "Ready when you are." Sam said. The two held hands to his rig as Sam opened the door and she climbed in. Sam jogged to his side of the truck started it and was gone. Ruth was glad they had plenty of time to decorate. Gene well rested was in on all of the excitement.
Sam pulled into their favorite Chinese Café. "Hello make I take your coat?" The waitress asked. "Thank you." Beth said, removing her coat and handing it to her. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Jessica with another young man. "I see Jessica is here." Beth said. Sam hardly noticed who was in here he had eyes only for Beth. Once they ordered and they were eating Beth and Sam talked of work, to music, back to work and other interests they had. "Sam why are we here tonight?" Beth asked. "Beth, you know how much I love you and would you do me the honor and marry me?" Sam said. Beth looked at the ring box he held at with her hand. He gently placed the ring on her finger. She looked at it than at Sam with love in her eyes. "Yes, I will marry you." Beth said. "I wish I could kiss you right now Beth only I will wait." Sam said. Beth declined dessert and Sam paid the bill. He was handed her coat and placed it on her. When they got to the rig Sam bent his head down and kissed her soundly before helping her into the rig. They were on their way home now. Sam and Beth talked often and it felt wonderful to be going home able to show her engagement ring to her Mom, Dad, Jake if he was home, and Naomi. Grandpa was not too surprised it was only a matter of time he had said one day. He was right Sam was her man and she loved him so very much right now. His hair needed a cut she hoped Heather would do it soon.
