A Sneak Peek for Dark Side: A Markiplier Fanfiction
“Alright, well, we’ll probably be home by eleven or twelve, but I’ll text you with updates,” my mom said.
“Sorry we’re leaving you now that you’ve finally come home. But we don’t really have any other plans with friends, so we’ll be all yours for the rest of your break,” my dad added. He liked to mess with me a lot, but he could be sweet and serious sometimes.
“It’s fine guys, I understand. Have fun!” I said.
“We will. Bye! Love you!” my mom said.
“Bye Claire, love you, don’t throw a party!” my dad chuckled as he went out the door, locking it behind him. I went over to a window and watched their car pull out of the driveway. I kept looking until the lights disappeared and I couldn’t follow them anymore. I had the house to myself, but I decided to take my dad’s advice and not throw a party. Instead, I wanted to relax.
There were always Christmas movies on TV in December, so I settled for a Christmas movie marathon. I made myself a bowl of popcorn, even though I just had some the night before. I could live off of popcorn alone. In fact, I knew I would eat that whole bag of popcorn by myself easily as I watched Elf. I felt like such a loser. Eating and watching by myself; this was my life. However, just as soon as I decided nothing very interesting ever happened in my life, life decided to surprise me.
About halfway through Elf, I saw lights in the driveway. Headlights. It was only eight by then. Had something happened to make my parents come home early? I checked my phone. My mom had texted me just a few minutes ago to say that everything was fine and I told her that everything was fine at home as well. Surely she hadn’t forgotten to tell me that she was on the way home with dad.
I thought that maybe I should panic. I had seen too many horror movies to not be a little afraid. I did live in a very secluded neighborhood out in the woods, after all. But then I remembered that I had been tweeting about being bored at home. Most of my friends from high school had come home for the holidays, and this wouldn’t be the first time that they had just showed up at my door to hang out. They had even done it later than this, before. I had nothing to worry about.
I heard someone at the door and I wondered which friend it would be this time. Then I heard what sounded like keys jiggling in the doorknob. We hid a spare key near the door that some of my friends knew about. It must have been Ashley coming to visit. Or even Ryan, trying to scare me by letting himself in. I continuously told myself that it was just my friends, but my heart still skipped a beat when I heard the door open and there were footsteps in the kitchen that followed the closing of the door. No familiar voice called out. Were my friends just very dedicated to this prank? I didn’t know, but I clutched my phone to my chest in case I needed to call the police. I told myself that it was all just a joke, but when I saw a male figure enter my vision, I realized that it wasn’t. A man had just broken into my house while I was home, and it wasn’t one of my friends.
I had never been in a situation like this, so I had no idea what to do. My first instinct was to run, so I did. I ran for the bathroom, which was probably dumb, but it was the closest room. I sprinted, but I heard footsteps coming after me. I got to the bathroom and I slammed the door, locking it quickly. I fell to the floor in shock. My heart was racing, and so were the thoughts in my head. How did this person get in so easily? Who was this person? Why did I run to the bathroom? Why didn’t I make sure I was armed? I hoped none of it mattered, because I was safe in a bathroom and the man was locked out, but I heard something in the keyhole again. The door opened. The lock had been picked. I covered my mouth to stifle a scream. At that point, I knew I was doomed, and I was terrified to see the face of the person who was probably about to kill me. However, when the door swung open and the man’s image was revealed, I was very pleasantly surprised. It was Mark Fischbach.
Hey guys! As you can tell, this is just a little piece of the first chapter of this story. I don't plan on actually beginning to post chapters until late November or early December, but I was too excited about this story to wait until then. Even though I've obviously already begun to write it, I wanted to delay posting it not only because I hoped to be closer to finishing Bitten by then, but also because I wanted more time to really develop this new Markiplier story and plan ahead for it. Seeing that my other Markiplier fanfics were such a success, I really want this one to be well written and good. I have high hopes for it. Well, to wrap things up, I hope you guys enjoyed this little sneak peek of the first chapter and I also hope you guys are as excited for this story as I am! I will see you in the first chapter. Bye bye! :)
