Annabeth POV
-
This was it. The limo had pulled up in front of our house, ready for us.
I quickly smoothed out my dress one last time before deciding I was ready to go. I'd chosen a royal blue knee length dress wrapped in tulle. One shoulder was a spaghetti strap, and the other was made up of a trail of fake diamonds that began near the empire waist. My shoes were matching in color, 5", sparkly heels. For earrings, I'd decided on simple blue feathers. My hair was in its typical curls, with the feather extensions matching my outfit.
When I stepped into the living room, Thalia, Nico, Piper, Jason, and Percy were squished in beside each other on the couch. It took every muscle in my body not to laugh at the sight.
Percy must've heard my shoes clicking against the hardwood floor, because when I passed by the couch, he turned to face me. "Wow, Wise Girl, you look..."
"Amazing!" Piper squealed.
I blushed. "Thanks. You guys look awesome, too!"
"Thanks," Thalia replied, but changed the topic. "The limo's here, let's go!"
We rushed out the door and piled into the black stretch limo.
"USA Music Awards, here we come!" I exclaimed as the limo began to drive down the street.

The limo driver pulled up to the red carpet, and I took a deep breath. Glancing over at Percy, our eyes met, and locked each others' gaze. I clasped my hand around his and smiled.
"Ready, Seaweed Brain?"
"Ready, Wise Girl."
The door opened, and together we stepped out of the limo, two stars expecting awards. I barely managed to catch a glimpse of the red carpet before my vision became pure white with camera flashes.
Together, Percy and I walked to the end of the carpet. We allowed a few pictures, but after a minute Percy said, "Hey, I'm going to get us seats."
I nodded, not removing the smile from my face. Percy let go of my hand, the hand I'd put the engagement ring on. The cameras' flashing lights reflected off the ruby, no doubt becoming a future headline.
"Annabeth!" A reporter caught my attention.
I turned to face the voice.
"Is it true you're engaged?"
As soon as this question was asked, many more came.
"Who are you engaged to?"
"When's the wedding?"
"Is it Percy?"
"Are you two planning a vacation after the wedding?"
I stifled a laugh. These questions were ridiculous! Of course, if I had more time, I'd've answered them all, but Thalia came to my rescue.
"She'll answer all your questions online!" Thalia announced. "Just go to annabethchase.com and email in your questions!"
"Thanks, Thals," I said quietly. "When did I get my own website?"
"I'll explain later. I'm gonna go find Nico so we can make out by the food court - I mean, get good seats."
I rolled my eyes as Thalia walked off, but kept smiling. As I was about to pose for more pictures, an annoying, high-pitched voice called from the end of the red carpet.
"Oh, that won't be necessary, Annie, sweetie," it said.
I gritted my teeth and tried not to explode. "Hannah," I greeted her with a death glare Hades himself would've been proud of. "You do know this is an awards ceremony for TALENTED artists, right?"
The crowd of paparazzi and reporters responded with a round of "OOOOOH....." "BURN!" and other various exclamations.
"In that case, you can take my LIMO home," she bragged.
"Oh, no thanks. I have my own," I stated.
"Good thing this isn't a fashion competition," Hannah smirked. "Otherwise, you'd've accepted my offer and left."
"Yeah, because the clear fashion trend is wearing over-glorified towels," I returned the facial expression.
I wasn't lying; Hannah was dressed solely in a black, strapless, satin dress. If you were actually paying attention, you probably could've seen her underwear. (Not that I cared; this is only a statement made for emphasis.) The neckline wasn't anywhere near her neck. It was much lower than I'd wear. Honestly, I'd seen larger towels than the dress Hannah was wearing.
"At least I don't look like a bedazzled tablecloth."
"At least I possess the ability to sing."
"Using fancy words, now are we?"
"Actually, I'm simply proving that my vocabulary is advanced further than yours."
"Actually, I just think you're talking shit."
"I must admit; everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion," I shrugged and left the red carpet.
When I entered the roped off section of the seats, I immediately spotted Percy. I sat next to him and gave him a warning. "Watch out, this place is no longer a bitch free zone," I grumbled.
"Oh, Hannah's here?" Percy assumed.
I laughed. "Yep, you got it. She's wearing a satin towel," I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, gods. Why did I ever date her?"
"I don't know, I'm still confused by that."
"Oh, shut up!"
I kissed Percy's cheek. "How's that for shutting up?"
"I'll have to tell you to shut up more often."
