"hey, did you really think this would be better than having dinner with your family?" sean asked.
cosima carried on through the sunflower field and nodded her head. "i said maybe next time," she said.
"at least she came up with something else," maddie added from behind sean.
"we should split up," kaycee said. she wanted to leave the two alone and maddie picked up on that quickly.
"i call dibs on kaycee," maddie said, grabbing kaycee's arm and pulling her away.
"i guess that leaves us two," cosima said and kept walking. "they're not very good at sneaking around."
"i don't understand how this was a good idea. what happens when we have to dance but we're too busy scratching ourselves from bug bites?" sean asked.
"in the events of such tragedy, i'll leave the next one up to you," cosi said.
"there'll be a next date?" sean said, raising an eyebrow.
"it's not a date," cosima corrected him but glad she was walking ahead so he couldn't see her rosy cheeks.
sean smiled and wondered if some part of her actually did consider this a date. "you know it's weird that i don't really know much about you now," sean mustered his words and scratched the back of his neck. "can i ask you some questions?"
cosima smiled at the flowers ahead of her. "ask away, lew." she said.
"what's... your... favorite color?" sean asked, trying to think of questions.
"red."
"it used to be blue," sean said.
"we grew up, remember."
"what's, um... your favorite candy?"
"m&m's."
sean took mental note of this and continued. "favorite disney princess?" he raised his eyebrows.
"really?" cosima asked and chuckled.
"hey, my sister says that can say a lot about a person." sean smiled. "i just want to see if it's changed."
she smiled. "it's cinderella," cosima said. "it's still the same."
"good," sean said and began to play with his camera. "favorite flower?"
cosima suddenly stopped, causing sean to walk into her. he took a step back and watched as she spread her arms out, spinning around. "sunflowers are my favorite," she stopped and turned ahead again. "i like roses too but aren't these just beautiful?"
"very," sean smiled and again, he agreed. he just wasn't talking about the sunflowers in that moment.
"i'm sorry if we do end up in bites," cosima apologized in advance.
sean shrugged. "it's cool. you know," sean picked a sunflower and tucked it behind cosima's ear, despite it almost covering almost half her face. "i wouldn't wanna get covered in bug bites with anyone else."
"aw," cosima exaggerated. "i like you but i don't like you that much."
she cupped sean's face and patted his shoulder before turning around. the shutter of a camera clicked and then cosima turned back to sean. "here take my picture," sean quickly said and ran off into the flowers.
he dipped below the flowers as he held one up in the air and cosima snapped a couple photos. she looked through the pictures. "hey we should go get kaycee and maddie we can all watch the sunset together," cosima looked up to see that sean wasn't holding up his flower anymore and was now just hiding. "very funny."
