"I don't wanna live this way, gonna take my things and go" »Ed Sheeran

~Taylor~

*RINGGGG*

The phone woke me up from my slumber.

"Hello?" My disgusting morning voice answered the phone that had been sitting on my nightstand.

"Taylor, sweetie, I know you need you're beauty sleep but you're going to have to come down for a small bite to eat, we're going to some friends for a brunch today! Why don't you wear that new lace dress we got you, huh? I think that might look nice." My mother chirped excitedly.

A brunch? Really? Ugh, I really didn't have the patience right now... I thought to myself

"Give me fifteen minutes." I replied, reluctantly getting out of bed.

I hung up the phone and wandered over to my closet, taking out the dress I had gotten three days ago. It was made entirely of lace and was skinny, high neck, and long sleeved on top, and widened in the bottom until just above my knee. It was cute but I'd much rather just wear leggings and a T-shirt right now.

I slipped in the dress and found some golden open toed high heels to match. My lips were left natural with only a little bit of lip gloss and my eyes were darkened with some eyeliner and a couple fake lashes.

I walked to the elevator, stumbling over a loose flap in the carpentry as I did so. How was I this clumsy?

After a ridiculously small breakfast my family and I left for the brunch.

Brunches are breakfasts where you have to be on your best manners, sitting stiffly on an over expensive chair. The ladies gossip about the most unimportant stuff and you're expected to participate in the "conversation" as you pick at your made-only-for-decoration food. You see, you're not actually supposed to eat much or everyone will comment on the calories you're consuming. Doesn't that sound lovely (note the sarcasm)?

We were driven through LA's busy traffic and after a couple honks here and there we stopped in front of a Greek style mansion.

It was white with five tall columns lining the front wall and golden details on the bases and over the doors and windows. The garden was perfectly manicured with a freshly cut lawn, red roses, several statues and fountains, and hedges shaped like various animals.

We walked up some wide marble steps and rang the bell, a suited man answering the door.

"Why good day you!" He said stiffly, "I will call Mr. Wiles immediately." He turned around, "Sir, your brunch guests have arrived!" He called through the house and less than 10 seconds later a tall middle-aged man came rushing to the door.

"Oh Scott, Andrea how wonderful to see you!" He smiled, hugging both of my parents lightly.

He doesn't actually seem so bad. I thought. Maybe this brunch will be bearable?

"You must be Taylor," He addressed me. I nodded with a small smile, "I've heard so much about you."

"Good things I hope." Oh, how I hated that line. He on the other hand seemed to love it though as he let out a loud deep laugh.

"Very. I already like you Taylor."

I smiled once again.
