MERRY CHRISTMAS LOVELIES XX

"We take jokes way too far, 'cause sometimes living's too hard" ~Troye Sivan

We drove like that for a while, silent apart from a couple energetic sing-alongs. It was almost 3pm when I exclaimed I was starving and we decided to get some food in Needles at the Arizona border.

"Where do you wanna go, Princess?" Harry asked me when we got off the highway. Could he stop calling me that?

I shot him a glare before shrugging. I didn't know any places around here, so I was quite indifferent to meal choices. I wasn't a picky eater, the only no-go was anything too exotic, but I didn't think that would be a problem with Harry.

"Okaaaay..." He trailed off. Then his face lit up. "Can we go to McDonald's?"

In my entire 17 years of life I had never been to McDonalds once. It was pathetic really. I felt like every single child in the United Started had been there at least once, me being the only exception. Of course I knew that that wasn't true, but I still felt like I was missing out on something major, even if it was just a fast food chain. Harry would surely laugh at me, so I tried to sound casual as I answered.

I shrugged again. "Sure."

He broke into a grin and steered us into the parking lot.

Bones I didn't even know I had, cracked when I got out of the car. Harry laughed at my wierded out face. I rolled my eyes but couldn't help myself from smiling.

As soon as I pushed open the door, I was greeted with the smell of deep fry. It was silent apart from the loud air conditioning and the occasional slurp of an empty cup. The only people inside were two employees that looked absolutely miserable, a man that looked homeless and a middle-aged couple that was thick with tension and seemed like they regretted every second of their marriage. Remind me again why they got married at all?

I walked up to the counter and started reading the menu over the desk. I really didn't know what I wanted. Wasn't there a begginers menu? Something simple but representative? That just sounded stupid. Of course there wasn't.

I stood there for about a minute, examining the menu, before Harry chuckled and pushed in front of me.

"We'll have one Big Mac, one Quarter Pounder with cheese, six Chicken McNuggets with BBQ sauce, one oreo and one chocolate McFlurry, two large fries, and two large cokes, please." He ordered. The employee scrambed to type the items into her touch screen, obviously not ready for the excessively large order.

Harry then turned to me. "You want anything?"

The employee and I both gaped at him. Was he being serious? He couldn't be. I composed myself after seeing the playful glint in his eyes. I really shouldn't have fallen for that.

"Sorry," I apologized to the cashier, "he's kidding. Umm... could I have a Diet Coke instead of the normal one?"

The woman nodded before dissapearing behind the counter.

"Why'd you order so much?" I asked after a moment of silence, "I'm not actually starving, you know that right?"

"Oh, but you are." He responded. I gave him a puzzled look. "You know, I really don't think acting should be your next career move, Princess." I was still confused. "It was obvious the moment you walked in here, that you didn't have the slightest idea what you were doing. Of course I should have realized that you'd never been to McDonald's, going off what little I know of you. I thought I should give you a little McDoanld's introduction with my favorites. Not that I've been here since..." He mumbled the last part and then trailed off, probably not wanting me to hear it, but I did, and it made me wonder what had happened. Since what? I thought about asking, but I figured it might be better to savour his good mood while it lasted.
