I took the next day off school like I had planned, I've never taken a day off while my parents were away before, so having the house to myself during the day for once actually felt nice. Dan messaged me just reminding me that he was coming over later this afternoon, but I was just hoping that he wouldn't get the wrong idea about this, I mean, he was so rude to me all the time, apart from after roll call yesterday, that was strange. We were only going to work on this assignment, and then he was going to go home, or where ever else he felt he needed to be, it was Friday night after all.

I placed my books on the dining table and then made my way up the stairs and to my room. I closed the curtains to my window and then took a seat at my computer, I had about hours before Dan was due to arrive. I slid my headphones on and decided to relax a little by playing some games. With my busy schedule slowly building in school, I knew I wasn't going to have as much time as I wanted to do these sort of things, so I may as well lap it up now while I can.

A few games go by and for some reason I'm feeling a little out of it, my Kill death ratio wasn't at it's best. Maybe what I really needed was to just sit down and relax. I opened up my closet and changed out of my pajamas, Dan was going to be here and he didn't need to witness my inner nerd. I pulled out an over-sized, beige knitted sweater that had been made with thick wool and a pair of denim faded shorts, I pulled my hair back into a pony tail and quickly made the switch, going from house troll to human girl. I walked over to the bookcase that I had against the wall and pulled down a case, I opened it up and looked at the glasses sitting inside, they were black, buddy holly like frames that I felt complimented my face. I didn't need to wear glasses full time, only for reading. I pulled the glasses out of the case and put them on before closing and putting the case back up on the bookshelf. As I walked out of my room, I picked up the first installment of the hobbit series then made my way back downstairs.

In our living room, we had a big window that pushed outwards, leaving enough space for seating, like a window sill. I skipped along and hopped onto the padded seating, making sure my back was against the side wall and my knees were tucked up, but not too tight to my chest. As I tried to get comfortable, I slid one of my legs down straight so that the other formed a triangle, I opened up the book and pushed the glasses up my nose, letting myself fall away into the fantasy of the book. Page by page, I relished in the story and it wasn't too long before the day just faded away. I smiled as I reached an exciting part in the chapter, almost biting on my knuckle, but my thoughts were pulled away from me when someone decided to tap on the window directly in front of me.

I looked up with my knuckle in my mouth and my lips still slightly curled, but when I saw Dan there, I instantly closed the book and tossed it onto the ground, taking my glasses off at the same time. I cleared my throat as I went to open the front door, and when I opened it, I was met with the tall likes of Dan. He looked different. I was so used to seeing him in a varsity jacket, with jeans, but He must have changed after school. He was donning all black. Leather jacket, a black shirt with skinny jeans. I was honestly a little shocked to say the least. His eyes narrowed as he looked at what I was wearing, then chuckled to himself before walking inside. I closed the door behind me then turned to face him, realising that He didn't even bring anything.

"No books?"

"Oh. Uhm, I figured you would have everything here"

I gave him an unimpressed look and then directed him into my kitchen, where I had everything already laid out, luckily for him.

"So, you weren't at school today"

I looked at him, folding my arms whilst raising my eyebrow curiously, why did he care?

"So?"

"I was just wondering why"

"I just needed some time off"

"Good girl goes bad? Scandalous"

Dan winked at me before taking his seat, looking around at all the books. I took my seat, opposite to him and just decided to get started, the sooner I could finish this, the sooner I could get him out of my house. Surprisingly though he actually seemed to be of help though. Throughout the session, I couldn't help but notice my eyes drag over him, something about what he was wearing was making me feel a little strange. Without realising it, my eyes caught with his as he met me with a smile.

"What are you looking at?"

"Oh, Uh, nothing. I was thinking"

"About me?"

I screwed my nose a little and shook my head.

"Dan, not everything is about you"

He chuckled once again before going back to working out an equation, I think we both knew that I was lying, But I didn't want to think about him, He was an arrogant son of a bitch. I went back to working some things out, but then I jumped when Dan slammed one of the textbooks shut.

"I can't do much more of this tonight."

I looked over everything, we only had about 30 percent left to do, but it was enough that I could just complete on my own now, so I was okay with the fact that he wanted to call it quits. I closed the textbook in front of me and then looked at Dan. I sat back in my chair and pulled the hair tie out, letting my hair fall around me. Dan just sat there and watched as I played with my hair, but when I looked at him, he coughed and looked away, jumping up from his seat.

"I, uh, I think I should leave"

"Alright then, I'll walk you out"

I got up from my seat and walked Dan to the front door, he walked outside and turned around. We stared at each other for a few minutes, not really saying a word. Dan took a step closer towards me, looking down into my eyes, everything in my mind was clear, lost of all thought, it was like I was becoming enchanted by what was going on in front of me, but what I didn't anticipate was that Dan decided to start leaning in.
