It's finally Friday, the week has dragged on let me tell you, The coach gave me a pardon on Wednesday because of my injuries which were healing now by the way, my eye was actually starting to calm down, the bruise was still there but the swelling had faded for the most part. I was just glad that it was cover-able now. I still hadn't completed my art homework. How was I supposed to draw up a portrait of Dan without him knowing, like what the hell, I mean, I could go through his Facebook and find a nice picture, but that wasn't going to sit well with me, I didn't like to snoop through people's lives like that.
I had finished school and walked home, remembering that Dan was coming to get me in a few hours. I threw my bag beside the door as I walked in and started to walk up stairs when my phone started to ring in my hand. It was dad. They should have been home yesterday, but it wasn't an irregular thing for them to be a few days late, they were always busy people, how they even managed to raise a child is beyond me. I placed the phone up to my ear and put on a fake tone of happiness for him.
"Hi dad"
"Sweetie hi, How have you been?"
"Yeah I'm okay"
"How come you didn't tell us you were hurt?"
Great, they're only just talking to me about this now. No doubt that the principal gave them a call earlier this week..
"It was no big deal dad, the situation was dealt with, so everything is fine."
"Still, you should have spoken to us"
"Sorry Dad."
"Anyway, it turns out that your mother and I are going to be a bit later than we said we would be"
"I figured as much when neither of you returned yesterday"
"Yeah, sorry about that. Anyway Your mother put some money in your account to get a dress from prom, she want's you to find something this weekend"
"Oh Dad, I don't know. I wasn't exactly planning on going. I didn't even put my payment through"
"We took care of that this week, Please make it look nice"
"So I don't get a say in the matter?"
"No not really, Okay honey, I've gotta go, be back next Wednesday"
I sighed, I had no intention of going to this ridiculous thing and now I had no choice in the matter. I rubbed one of my temples and said goodbye to him before I hung up. Well, I guess I knew what I was doing tomorrow now, who even leaves dress shopping this late..
I went upstairs and went and showered, then got changed into some warm clothes, why Dan told me to was a bit beyond my knowledge, but I was going to run with it anyway. I threw on a maroon oversize jumper, some leather look skinny jeans, and a black pair of uggs, he said warm, I'm not trying to be fashionable. I quickly blow dried my hair and did some fresh make up leaving it minimal just so I could cover my eye honestly, but after that was done I walked back downstairs so I could grab my purse. I quickly threw a beanie, my sketch pad and wallet in then left it by the door so I could just grab it on my way out.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical of tonight, I mean Dan wasn't telling me anything about what we were doing or where we were going, for all I knew he could murder me out in the woods, Oh lord, I probably shouldn't think like that. I grabbed my glasses out of my school bag and took them out of the case. I walked over to the mirror in the living room and put them on in front of it, they really did make me look different. I scanned myself over a few times, working different poses, then figured, hey I have a little while before Dan gets here, why not listen to some music. I raced upstairs and picked up my phone, then ran to the living room to hook my phone up to the docking station above the fireplace. I searched for the perfect song to get my jam to, it had been a while since I danced, since I didn't go to my lesson this week. oops. Track after track, nothing seemed to be right until I came across "Tilted"By Christine and the Queens. It wasn't loud but it wasn't completely a snooze fest and honestly the french language incorporated into the bridge was ultimately my favourite, I loved languages, they were all so different yet unique, I could speak a little french, only what we were learning in school, but I hoped to become more fluent as time went on. I turned the volume up and walked back over to the mirror, lip syncing as I looked myself over, if there was a hair brush around, I would have been set.
The song played over and over, yet I never grew tired of it, I was like that. I would find a song I absolutely loved and would listen to it on repeat for days, I was probably weird because I did that, but in the same time I didn't really care because it was something I enjoyed. Time seemed to fly by and The more the song went on, the more carried away I got, I started walking across the sofa as I danced away my troubles, but when I turned to look out the window I saw Dan just standing there, watching me and I practically screamed and fell off the sofa. How long had he been there?? I quickly got up and raced over to the docking station to turn my phone off and then straightened myself up before walking over to the door. When I opened it up, Dan was standing in front of me with one of the biggest smiles I had ever seen on him, it was quite cute but I knew he was going to make fun of me.
"Have fun?"
"you know what, I did."
He chuckled and then motioned for me to follow him, I felt a little embarrassed but then again, I had fun. I picked up my bag and followed him out the door, making sure that i locked my front door behind me. I walked behind Dan until we reached a Pickup truck, it wasn't what Dan normally drove so I was a little surprised to say the least. He opened up the door for me and waited for me to get in before closing the door behind me. He runs around and jumps in next to me, then glances over at me with a smile.
"I'm glad that you gave me another chance, are you ready?"
"I'm ready"
"Okay, well, let's go then"
And with that, he started the car, and then drove off, taking us to this mystery destination.
