The airport

"Seven kids" I said surprised and shocked. I didn't really know how to feel or how I was going to survive with that many people in the house. I was an only child so it had only ever been me and my dad.
"I know it sounds like a lot but my oldest Jordan is 21 and in college working on his doctorate so it's only six kids and the youngest are usually at their friends house, it probably still seems intimidating with you being an only child and all though." I shook my head not really agreeing or disagreeing, eight other people in the house pretty much all of the time. It was going to take me a while to process that all. Mrs. Jones took a breath before continuing listing off her children's names and ages.
"Anyways the next is Jason he just turned 17 a few weeks ago and is a year ahead of you in school.
Max and Jacob they're 15 and turn 16 next month so they'll be in the same year as you.
Nate is 14 and is a freshmen this year.
The twins are 10, William and Benjamin, they are still in Jr. High so you won't see them in school."
I nodded not really sure what to say, I was sure I wouldn't remember half of their names by the time we got there. "you must be tired sweetie why don't you take a nap I'll wake you up when we are touching down. " I took her suggestion and leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes soon drifting off into sleep easier than I had all week

I woke a few hours later, "dad where are we" I whispered not sure where I was or what the loud noise was or why I was being shaken. I looked over and saw it was Mrs. Jones and everything came rushing back to me. She must of realized I didn't want to talk about it or didn't hear me, I was hoping for the latter. "Jordan should be waiting for us inside." She said after I had grabbed my backpack and one of my suitcases from the overhead bin. I followed outside of the plane and waited for the rest of my luggage.
We waited in silence, I was glad for one I didn't really like small talk.
After we had my bags we walked across the airport we started down the stair I saw a man who resembled Mrs. Jones I figured it was probably Jordan the one she said who would be here. He had short sandy blonde hair that was only slightly longer than buzz cut and stormy blue eyes but beside the hair and eyes he looked like a male version of his mother.
"Jordan sweetie" Mrs. Jones beamed at her eldest children when she stepped off the last step she pulled him into a a hug, after she released him he took the bag that she had been pulling. Before turning to face me, "would you like me to take one of your bags for you?" He asked his voice was low and quiet.
I shrugged "um sure" I took my duffle bag which was resting on my shoulder off and handed it to him "thanks" I said quietly
"No problem the truck's this way" I followed silently behind them "my truck broke down so I borrowed Jace's I have to swing by the school and pick him, and before you start worrying." he said just a his mom opened her mouth to speak. "Jace and I are going to going to have a look at it when we get back. I would of fixed it before but there wasn't enough time." Mrs. Jones seemed to be satisfied with the they fact they were going to try and fix his truck when they got back to it because she didn't comment.
They whispered back and forth to each And I couldn't hear or understand what they were saying, figuring it didn't matter and that I wouldn't need to answer any questions for a while I took my phone out of my pocket and plugged in one of my sets of headphones to it and started my favorite playlist after putting an earbud in my ear.

Following Jordan's lead I threw my last bag into the back of the dark blue slightly beat up pick up truck, but kept my backpack with me. I climbed into the back of the truck and set my backpack on my lap. I stared out the window as we left the airport and what seemed as the last part of civilization. The trees grew closer together after we left the airport and the road grew somewhat rougher as we drove off of the new paved concrete and farther into the country "are you alright?" Mrs. Jones asked me after we had been driving for a while. I nodded my head but then remembered that she couldn't see me "yeah, I'm fine" I muttered quietly, I didn't really want to seem ruse but I wasn't really in the mood to talk.
I put the other earbud in and continued staring out the window as my last hope for this all to be a bad dream disappeared.
