It must of been fourth period by now, my backpack was resting on the chair next to mine. my phone in my pocket it had died about an hour about. I was so bored I had taken to counting the spots on the popcorn ceiling, so far 5129. I had tried to leave earlier back apparent Ms. Lynn couldnt let me leave because of school policy. So I was stuck, sitting in these really uncomfortable chairs until the school day was over.
5130, 5131, 5132, 5132, 5133... The door creaked as it opened, It was probably just another kid who had gotten hurt in gym class or something. But I looked up anyways but it wasn't a student.
"Jordan?" I said surprised he looked over at me and grinned "what are you doing here?" I asked
"Nathan called and I came over as soon as I could" he shrugged and walked over to the desk
"Ms. Lynn"
"Mr. Jones" she said briefly looking up at him before turning her attention back to her computer screen "Hows college?" She asked as if it were normal for Jordan to just barge into her office and start up a conversion.
"Good, listen.." He started but was interrupted by Ms. Lynn
"Thats fantastic" she said never looking away from her computer screen
"Ms. Lynn.." He started again only to be once again interrupted.
"How's your parents?"
"Their fine. MS. LYNN" He spoke louder this time and Ms. Lynn looked away from the screen
"Theres no need to yell Mr. Jones." She said calmly
"I know Selenes rights and you can not hold her here." Jordan said calmly
Ms. Lynn tried to interrupt but Jordan continued as if she hadn't. "So you either have to hand over the papers or release her. Which is it going to be Ms. Lynn"
Ms. Lynn froze she must not of expected Jordan to demand she listen to him. "I can't not hand over her papers to anyone other than her father. And I ..."
Jordan interpreted her "Her father passed away in the freaking hospital last week so give me the papers or release her."
I dropped my head to floor they began arguing, I winced when Jordan told her my father was dead. It like someone had sucker punched me in the stomach. Ms. Lynn looked over at me. I hated being pitied, I saw it in everyones eyes back home at my father funeral. Everyone was staring at me.
That was the one and only good thing here, there wasn't anyone who knew what had happened expect for Mrs. Jones and apparently Jordan.... And now Ms. Lynn.
"Mr. Jones even under those terms I still can not give Selene's paperwork nor can I release Selene to anyone expect for her guardian."
Jordan turned and looked over at me, slowly I looked up. "What do you think Selene?" I looked at him confused, think about what?
"Is your chair comfy Selene?" Jordan grinned at me
"Now that you mention it, its not really being plastic and all." I smiled back more for his benefit than my own.
"Then its settled, Selene grab your bag." I got up and did as I was told. "Ms. Lynn Selene will return to school when you get her paperwork out and not before." I walked over to Jordan and followed him as he walked towards the door.
"MR. JONES YOU CANT JUST TAKE A STUDENT FROM THE SCHOOL WITHOUT A REASON." Ms. Lynn yelled as we walked into the hallway.
Jordan froze and took a step back "You want a reason fine." He took one more step so he was half way in the doorway of the office.
"Selene has a doctors appointment, because she's allergic to bull and rude, stuck up, wanna be teachers."
Ms. Lynn was quiet after that.
~~~
Jordan and I walked out the front doors of the school. "Thanks" I told him quietly.
"I was glad to be of assistance." He grinned and lead me to what must of been his truck. It was the complete opposite of Jace's, It was bright red and looked almost brand new.
"If you get in trouble again before I leave, just call." He told me once we both we in the front seats of the truck.
I nodded that I would and set my bad at my feet. I didn't have any of their numbers but I figured Jordan was going back to college soon and I didn't exactly plan on getting in any trouble, before he left, or ever.
But then again when was trouble ever planned?
