She cries while he curses her under his gritted teeth. He drops his newspaper on the floor and immediately pulls the belt from his waist. He curses him again but this time, he hits her so hard with the belt slightly rolled in his fist.

Why didn’t you just died before you were born?

You’re such a failure!

Why didn’t you just die?

She curls herself to her knees and lets out her silent prayers with her lips trembling with fears. Her arms hug her legs to protect them and he hits him again.

And again.

And again.

Harder this time.

And again.

Her pale skin turns red everywhere – her arms, her legs, her tiny body and even her lovely little face turned red and got little wounds but he doesn’t stop hitting her. He was furious and he starts kicking her with his right foot. She winces and his face looks satisfied with her pain. She begs him to stop but he hits him instead. Her skin cracks up and oozed with blood and her covers it with her little shaking hand not wanting him to see.

Allan!

A woman comes closer to him.

Allan, stop it!

He pushes her and continues his assault.

Look at her face!

He ignores her.

I don’t care! She deserves this!

She holds his arms.

If our neighbors see her face, they’ll know that you’re hurting her. Do you want that?

He stops and looks at her, the woman.

Come.

She holds his big hand and drags him to the dining room.

They shouldn’t know that you are hitting her, okay? This might give them the idea of the truth. Even if Allison is not our daughter, you should still show your love. We have to pretend, this is for our own sake, Allan. Just stop this!

They speak with their voices low, keeping their little secret not revealed.

A whispered conversation comes after while the little girl remains silently cries to herself in her previous position. She uncovers her face and wipes her tears and looks at the wounds in her legs. She cries again – in the pain of her wounds and in the pain with her being beaten.

She comes out from the dining room and slowly walks to her.

Allie, sorry honey. Dad is really furious right now; please go to your room.

She holds her little face and kisses her forehead. She helps her stand and lets her walk to the room. She looks at him with an evil smile on her face.

See? It’s not so bad.
