The Christmas season has passed so fast this year. As I thought before, I am now shoveling the thick piles of snow in our backyard. Not with Adam. Well, I can manage with or without him. There is a big scowl resting on my face. Yes, scowl. Adam is supposed to be here, suffering with me but he left so soon. He’s lazy. He doesn’t want to sweat out or work out like any other boys. No pressure. I’ll have my reward when I finish.

I haven’t seen any of my friends. The last time I saw them, they were all containing surprised and angry expressions in their faces. I smirk at the thought. What bothers me is when Dad finally knew that I already bear the knowledge they were avoiding me before. And that night always plays in my mind.

I was walking to the kitchen when a noise startles me.

            “Adam!”

The door is being pound by Dad in anger.

“Fucking Adam, open this door!” he snarls like a drunken guy.

“Dad, please, it was an accident.” Adam welcomes as he opens the door.

“An accident? That’s why I don’t trust you, little shit!” he shouts and pulls on the hem of Adams shirt to let him out his room. “Tell me, how the fuck did she reacted?” he was about to hit his clenched fist to his face. I was so scared and so I called.

            “Dad.”

His head slowly turns around and his expression softens when he saw me. “Allison.” He gently lets go of Adam who’s about to cry by the time.

“What’s going on? Why are you so mad at him?” panic shoots into my veins.

“Your brother has committed the worst crime I told him not to.” His brows slightly curl.

            “And that is...?” I snap.

            “You.” He answers simply.

            “What is about me?”

“I know that you know. He told me that you know and I don’t want playing games with you.” His tone shifts from relax to firm, and hard.

            “That I’m not your daughter?”

His eyes turn from me to the carpet of the floor. He sighs and cups his face with his hand, “Allison... I never wanted to tell you about that.”

            “Why?”

“Because it’s not my place to say. Because it’s not the right time. Because you wouldn’t understand that we did adopted you before for your own sake. You’re so naive for this kind of information. That is why.” He says every word like I’m a dear pet of his.

“If this information is too confidential then, why did you let Adam know about this?”

“That is my mistake. I trusted a stupid monkey.” I know he’s joking but his face is still stiff.

“Let me know about all of it. Why did you adopt me? Where are my real parents and how did you come to the point where adoption is needed?” I can feel my fury but nervousness is pulling on my pulses.
