Chapter Nine

Another short chapter sorry. I'm starting to post shorter ones as it's coming to the end of the book very soon and I want to stretch this first one as long as possible. Hope you enjoy <3 Happy birthday Kate btw ^-^ (in 1.5 hours) x

{Adrien's POV}

"She's all fine! Nothing life threatening is wrong with her and she will only need to stay till the end of the week in hospital if she keeps this up" The nurse smiled at me and Sabine, Marinette's mum.

"So there's no need for you, as her loving boyfriend, to be sleeping in that horrible chair another night" She shot a glaring, playful smile my way before unhooking some of the machines connected to Mari.

"Oh I'm not-" I tried to say before I was cut off by Sabine.

"Thankyou" she smiled politely at the nurse before she left, pushing the heart monitoring machine out the door.

"Adrien," Sabine spoke. I looked up to meet her eyes as I listened. "She loves you I'm sure of it. You just need to let her know if you do or not before she changes her mind. She needs someone to protect her. Someone to make her feel wanted when we can't. Like look at you. We've been busy at the bakery for days now, unable to stay more than 2 hours with our daughter and you've stayed here all night, sacrificing school days to make sure she is ok. That's what she needs. And that's what I would like to call love" Sabine paused while looking deeply into my eyes before bringing me it's a hug.

"Now go home and get some rest son" She smiled.

{Time Skip}

I lay in bed, trying to sleep but all I could think of was Marinette. What her mum had told me and what had happened over the previous day's. The fact that she has kissed me, she trusted me, she loved me.

But a horrible thought suddenly sunk over me. A horrible thought that made me almost cry.

The person she trusted most, the one that cause her mind to spin as she walked into that car, hadn't seen her once after the accident.

The person that she told me she loved...

I walked into Marinette's hospital ward. She was fast asleep under the light blue blanket and white sheets. She was beautiful.

I held her hand that was laying gently on top of  the bed. "I'm so sorry M'Lady. For causing you harm, and for not coming to see if you were ok. I need to tell you something important which is the reason why i haven't been busting you. It's hurting me to contain this secret of mine." A tear shed from my eye and landed on her hand.

"Kitty?" Marinette whispered.

"Princess" I hugged her warmly, not wanting to let go. "Princess I've been lying to you. You think I haven't been coming in. You think that I hurt you then abandoned you in a hospital. You think-" I was interrupted by Mari's faint voice.

"Chat, I don't think anything. All I'm thinking is, is why do you think you hurt me. You didn't hurt me Chat. I've hurt you and you don't even know it yet" she shook her head.

"Chat Noir I have a something to tell you that will hurt you" she said, tears spilling from her eyes. I already knew what it was. The fact that she had kissed Adrien when she had said that she loved me. Which did hurt, but not as much as it would if I wasn't Adrien.

"Marinette I want to show you something". I took both her hands as she sat up in the bed. "I want to show you who I am Marinette. I want to show you who I am because I know for certain it will clear some of those thoughts rushing through your fragile mind. Trust me bugaboo. My only ever wish was to make you happy, because no matter what you have done, I love you Mari".
