Don't Leave Me

"Does this look good?" 80 asked Billie. "Babe. You always look good," he replied. "Liar."

"I love you. You will always look hot to me." "Alright let's go. You tell me that ALL the time, I was starting to think my name is 'love'."

They were getting ready for Green Day's induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. It was a big day for the legendary trio. Tre was fooling around instead of preparing as usual, Mike was breaking a sweat (most likely why he's always been so scrawny and fit), and Billie was practicing his acceptance speech while at the same time drinking his favorite Oakland coffee.

"We've been married 20 years and you still haven't learned how to tie a tie," Adie scolded as she adjusted Billie Joe's tie (yes, the former angry teenager was going to wear a suit). "I have you. There's no need for that. I mean of course. As long as you don't leave me HAHA GET IT," he joked. "Don't Leave Me" is a song off 39/Smooth, in case you didn't know. His stupid, clever little jokes are part of why Adie fell in love with him. "I remember how I felt nervous as hell asking you where to buy your album back in '86 or '87, I don't remember, and now I'm tying your tie in a home we both live in with 2 kids." "Why would you feel nervous?" "I don't know. I guess I thought you were cute and I thought you would be weirded out." "Are you fucking kidding me? I fell in love with you the moment I saw you. Jesus, you were and still are so beautiful." She gave him a little push and told him to stop.

It was finally Green Day's turn. Fall Out Boy inducted them in. Billie Joe gave a whole speech, you know, all that stuff you're supposed to say. Thank your fans. Your mom. But, surprise, he didn't forget to mention Adrienne. "And Adrienne, I love you, we've been married forever. It's a rare thing, this crazy rock world, and I love you so much, you're the best." He made her cry. Lol.

   Goals.

"What was that all about?!" Adie asked Billie once they got home. "What?" "The thing about being married forever. You embarrassed me. Sure it was cute but come on." "Oh. That. So? It's true." "But now everyone's going to think we're arrogant. Showing off our undying love for each other." "Oh, you know me. I don't give a shit. As long as we're happy. Everyone else is tuned out."

"Even us?" Joey, their oldest son asked. "Of course not. But this is different. I'm married to your mom, not you." "Ok this just got weird. By the way, I've never heard your story. On how you met." Billie and Adie looked at each other and blushed. "Tell him," Billie told Adrienne. "Why me?"

"Because if I tell it, I'm going to take a detour and start talking about YOU and not the story."

"Fine. I went to one of Green Day's first shows. When they were still starting. I loved it and I wanted to get their album. After the show, I walked up to your dad and asked him where I could buy their album. He told me and then we took a picture together. It's our oldest and most precious picture to this day."

"It was so weird because I had noticed a dark-haired beauty in the crowd, and wanted to talk to her immediately," BJ added.

"You never told me that! Anyway we exchanged phone numbers and talked on the phone almost every single night and talked about my classes. I felt weird. I was older than him. But that didn't matter."

"I wrote so many songs for you, I lost count. No one's ever heard them. Not even you. And I'd like to keep it that way."

"Ok you guys are getting too cheesy. I'm going to sleep."

"This fucking kid," Billie said.

"Hey, you were the same way, these kids turned out just like you. Not to mention Jakob started a band too," Adie added.

"Ah! You always beat me."

"It's my job as your wife to do so."
