Billie turned over. It was already 9:23. "Ah fuck. Not making music and not giving concerts blows." It's been 2 years since the release of ¡Uno! , ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! and Green Day decided to take a break. He groaned as he turned to the other side and saw Adrienne sleeping. She instantly made him feel better. He kissed her on the forehead. "Huh?" she said groggily. It was adorable. "What time is it?" "9:24, love," he answered. "SHIT! I FORGOT TO WAKE UP THE KIDS FOR SCHOOL!!!" She immediately got up and burst into Joey's room. "JOEY! You're late! Get up and hurry!" He groaned and she flipped him over. She did the same to Jakob. Oh, Jakob is their second son, by the way. "Relaaaax," Billie tried. When Adie panicked, it took every effort to calm her down. "Nothing's going to happen if they're late ONE day. It's not like they'll get expelled, and if they do, then the school system is fucked." Billie has always been a strong advocate against this type of stuff. Very political person.
"But we didn't even get to eat," Jakob whined as they climbed into the car. "Here," his mom said as she threw him a granola bar. She hit him on the forehead. "Ow," Jakob complained. Billie drove because there was no way he was going to let his wife drive in the state she was in. "I was always late to school," Billie started, "and nothing happened to me. It'll be fine, sweetheart."
"But you dropped out," Adie reminded him.
"To do the thing I love, which is making music. And it got me far. You worry too much. Now, relax. You be calm and I'll be nervous."
They arrived. "Look at the bright side. Nobody attacked us for pictures or autographs today," BJ said. "I guess," she replied. "How about we go eat something. You pick the restaurant," he suggested.
"I've been craving some Carl's Jr. lately."
"Whatever my baby wants."
"Yeah hi can I get the breakfast thing. I forgot what it's called," Billie said. "The sourdough sandwich with bacon, egg, and sausage?" the waitress corrected. "Yeah that. And some coffee. No milk." "Ok got it. What about the pretty lady?" Billie Joe frowned at the waitress. "Hey. Back off," he said jokingly. He was extremely jealous on the inside. No one hit on her but him. Even if they were already married. "Can I just get a cookies 'n cream milkshake?" "Of course. Be right back." "Thanks."
"One sourdough sandwich, a black coffee, and a cookies 'n cream milkshake?" the waitress reassured as she set the food down. "Let me know if you need anything," she said as she winked at Adie. Billie Joe didn't see. He was too focused on his food. "You're so cute when you eat. You always lift the bun to make sure everything's in place. You cute little control freak, you," Adie told him. "Why did you only get a milkshake?" "Because I'll feel bad that we came to eat while the boys are at school. Hungry. Because someone forgot to wake them up."
"Stop. It happens. School starts way too early, anyway," Billie said, trying to make her feel better.
"Yeah you're right. Eat. I'll get Joey and Jakob something so they can eat after school."
"Awe. You really love those little brats, don't you?"
"Of course. They're my kids. My only boys. We never had a girl. Might as well make the most of it, right? You'd be so overprotective if you had a daughter."
"Pfft. I don't know. I'd have to have one. If you know what I mean ;)" he joked.
"WE'RE IN PUBLIC WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT BEING DIRTY IN PUBLIC?!"
"Alright alright."
He gave her a footsie.
