Billie did not follow her. He wouldn't. He, out of all people, knows that when Adrienne is upset, it's better to leave her alone. He just went to the living room and sunk into the couch. He let out a puff of frustration. Gosh, why do you have to be so fucking stupid? You can't just piss off someone you love so much. If she didn't answer, it wasn't a no, or a yes, he thought to himself. He felt his heart sink with regret and worry. Even though it wasn't really anything serious. He knew that. He knew materialism was making her upset. But that's why he was worried. Because she was upset. He didn't dare piss her off on purpose. He loves her. He fiddled with the guitar strings and thought. An hour passed.
Billie heard the lights flick on and that one squeaky sound shoes make on hardwood floor in the kitchen. "Bring me an orange!" he yelled. No answer. "Please!" he added. No answer. 5 minutes passed, so he decided to go get it himself. "Can't anybody ever do me a favor..." he muttered as he walked in. Adrienne looked at him, and continued cleaning the counter. Not even a crack of a smile. "Oh. Shit. I thought you were one of the boys." He beat himself up in his head. After digging for her jewelry and then gluing to his fucking guitar, he still asks her to bring him food. Cynical. "Arghh, come on baby. I'm sorry. I was being stupid," he said as he approached her, putting his hand on her back. "Whatever."
"I'll buy you better stuff."
"You KNOW I loved those earrings. I wore them whenever we had dates. Had."
"Had?"
"Had."
"Forgive me?"
"Billie Joe Fucking Armstrong. It's not that easy to forgive people for me."
"I'm sooooorrrryyyy" he begged. She had forgiven him already, but she wanted to make him suffer for a while. He continued like that for a good ten minutes. Aaaand she gave in.
"Fine."
He hugged her.
Kiss.
They climbed into bed, while Adrienne took off her earrings. "Let me just... remove my earrings... the ones I still have..." she said as she looked at Billie at an angle, like that angle you do when you're taking off earrings. "You're being quite materialistic," he answered. She shot him a look. That surprised look your mom gives you when you disrespect her. She gave up and sighed. "Forget it. As long as you didn't use the necklace you gave me when we reached our 1 year anniversary." He laughed nervously. "Totes." "YOU FUCKING DIDN'T." "I'm just kidding 80," he said as he stroked her hair and looked at her forehead. "80 please keep taking me away..." he sang. Her eyes sparkled. "Still can't believe someone composed a song like that about me." "Who wouldn't? Guess I got lucky and nobody beat me to it."
