Previously...:

I was definitely in Alex Carter's apartment, and he himself was sitting right in front of me.

"Oh. My. God." I breathed.

Megan was right. I think I just did something that I'm already regretting.

"You're really Alex Carter...?" I asked.

"Yes..." He said.

I sheepishly stuck out my finger and poked his face. He leaned back a bit.

"Oh my freaking gosh." Yep, that was Alex Carter all right.

"Is everything all right?" He asked me.

"No, everything is not all right. How can anything be right, right now? What the heck did I do last night?"

"Your left hand explains it all."

Oh gosh. I don't even have to look at my left hand to know what's their.

A shining diamond ring. A wedding ring.

Chapter 3... Letters from the Sky

"...What...? How...? What happened?" I sputtered out.

"What do you think? We were both drunk." His words came out harsh.

"Okay...So in the same night you went out and bought a 6.5 karat ring? That sounds believable." I stared down at the ring as I said that.

"Funny. But, no. It was my mom's ring. Unfortunately, it's now yours."

"Are you always so rude? You probably don't even know my first name, and you're already bashing me."

"Elona? Alaina? Alanna? Something with "Al," or "El," Truthfully, it's not like I'll need to know it. You weren't exactly my first choice either."

"Annul it then," I glared at him. Sheesh, I hoped he'd be the least bit nice.

"Media's already covered the...wedding. I can't divorce you yet. It would cause too much controversy. Besides, more than half the time I won't be here." He shrugged.

"All about reputation. Let me guess, you'll be in clubs, drinking away."

"You're full of all sorts of nice remarks, aren't you? Actually, I'll be at band practice."

"Right. Your band. Mhm."

He got up and went into his room. I watched him. This marriage thing was going to be harder than I thought. He came back in the room, grabbing his jacket. His guitar was in his other hand. Hm. Band practice? Or just an excuse? Either way, I won't have to deal with him.

And then he opened the door and left.

I remained sitting where I was. I still had the headache. I sighed. Loneliness settled in the room now. Okay... So maybe it was better having Alex here.

Next, curiosity settled in. But loneliness didn't leave. I decided to go into Alex's room. So I walked over there casually.

Surprisingly, it was pretty clean. The cherry wood floors were spotless and it matched with the light tan walls. The furniture was the same cherry color as the floor. The bedding was white. Honestly, I expected the room to be all dirty, with clothes strewn across the floors and furniture. But I also expected his house to be a mansion, not an apartment.
