Getting a job straight out of college is practically unheard of. Which is exactly the reason I'm a bit suspicious that this school would hire me. It didn't look so bad, maybe a little small. What could go wrong?
The principal, Ms. Tran, greeted me as I walked into the building. "Welcome to Paramount, Mr. Winchester!" she smiled as she shook my hand.
"Happy to be here."
"English is right down the hall, next to Science" She said, pointing towards the next hallway.
"Oh. Well, uh, I should get to my new classroom...class will start soon....." I excused myself and made my way to my new classroom.
Walking down the hallways for the first time was a strange experience. Kids stared when they passed me.
"I'm guessing you Mr. Winchester." said a voice behind me. I jumped.
"Shit." I muttered. He was really good looking... He had bright blue eyes and black messy hair, and his eyes crinkled when he smiled.
"I'm Castiel Novak, my classroom's right next to yours." he announced, holding out his hand.
I shook it. "My name's Dean Winchester. I guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other."
A girl passed us. "Gay." she muttered.
I let go of his hand and he blushed. Was he....nah. Probably just surprised or something.
"Would you like any help with anything?" he asked.
"Yeah, actually. I don't know how to work those projector things." I admitted.
"You're fitting in already." he laughed. "Come on, I'll show you."

"Welcome everyone to your first day of school!" I said to the class. Most people groaned.
"Oh, you're the gay one I saw in the hallway." said a girl. A few people snickered.
"I-I'm not gay." I stammered.
"Really? Mr. Novak is."
I didn't stammer this time. "He is?" The girl laughed.
"Okay, whatever. This isn't gossip class, this is english class." I reminded them. "Which is why I'm giving you an assignment to write about yourself so I can get to know you guys a bit."
"It's the first day of school and you're already giving us an assignment?" The same girl questioned.
"Okay- You know what- What's your name?" I sighed.
"Amara." she responded.
"Okay, Amara, I don't want to deal with this behavior all year. What's your problem with me?" I asked her.
"I don't have a problem with you." she said. "Should I have a problem with you?"
"No-just-do your work. Everyone." I continued, "And I'm not afraid to give out detentions."
"Understood." Amara nodded, then started on her paper.

Four periods and a couple of class clowns later and it was lunch. All the teachers ate lunch in the teachers lounge. Tables were set up and the only table that wasn't full was one where a redhead sat.
"Hey, can I sit here?" I asked here.
"Oh, of course! You must be Mr. Winchester. I'm Charlie Bradbury, I teach art." she introduced herself. "How's the first day been?"
"Oh, it's been fine. I just had a problem with one student- Amara?" I told her.
"Ah, Amara. She gave me a little trouble, too, but I can tell she'll be a nice girl." she assured me.
"How can you tell?" I asked.
"I'm good at reading people." she replied.
Castiel wandered to the table with his lunch bag in his tray and sat down. "Hey Charlie."
"Hey Cassie." she responded.
"Hey Castiel." I said.
"So a girl stopped me in the hallway on the way here..." he started.
"Amara..." I muttered.
"What?" he said, confused.
"Amara." Charlie explained, "She's been giving everyone trouble today. But I have a good feeling about her. You guys just wait."
"What'd she say to you?" I asked.
"She asked if I have a boyfriend. Weird." he answered.
"Yeah, she thinks I'm gay too." I laughed.
"Actually...I really am gay." he confessed. "Everyone knows. It's not a secret."
"I'm gay too..." Charlie put in.
"Oh...oh! well, I-I uh, didn't know, I'm really sorry, it's just weird she thinks I'm gay, because I'm straight, and I didn't even know you're gay-" I spluttered.
He gave me a puzzled look. "Dean, it's really not a big deal."
I could feel my cheeks going red. I shouldn't have said that. What if I offended him?
He was still looking at me with that confused look on his face. I looked back at him and my stomach did flips. I'm never mentioning this again.
"Anyways..." Charlie interrupted, thank god, "So Dean, you listen to music?"
Hoped you liked that first chapter!
