Over the course of the next week, arrangements were made and the field trip was scheduled. All the students from Cas's class excitedly turned in their permission slip forms and, to his great excitement, actually started to pay attention in class. There was an obvious change in him. He was happier. He smiled more. And honestly, if anyone deserves happiness, it's Cas.

It's early in the morning. The buses are scheduled to leave sometime during first period. To surprise Cas, I called in a sub for me so I could go, too. The other science teacher was supposed to go, but I convinced him to take the day off.

The bell rang and students made their way to class. It rang a second time and Ms Tran's voice boomed over the loudspeaker;

"Attention, teachers staff and students; all of Mr Novak's students report to the front office. Buses leave in five minutes. If you haven't turned your permission slip in, please report to Ms Harvelle's room. Thank you."

The front office swarmed with excited teenagers. Cas was smiling and talking to a student. I snuck behind him and wrapped my arms around him "Heya, Cas."

He jumped back in surprise and I let go, laughing. "Jesus Christ you scared me!" he chuckled. He  locked his arms around me again, and in the corner of my eye I saw a group of teenage girls watching and snickering. I broke the hug.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" he asked.

"Surprise, Balthazar is taking the day off. I'm going with you on the trip!" I said enthusiastically.

"Great! Great, um, can you get them on the buses," he pointed to half the kids, "and I'll get the rest?"

"Yeah, sure." and we both sprung into action, rushing all the kids into the two buses.

We said a quick goodbye to each other and stepped onto our separate buses. I sat in the front of the bus next to a talkative kid named Samandriel, who only wanted to be called Alfie for some reason. He was nice to talk to though, besides having to protect him from another kid named Gadreel.

It was a loud bus ride.

On the bright side, once we got there it was pretty easy to get everyone in a line and out of the bus. Except...we're the only ones here? Where's Cas?

I got my phone out and dialed his number. It went straight to voicemail. I called him again. Straight to voicemail. Where is he?

Castiel's Bus

"Michael sit down or so help me-"

Michael smirked in response and jumped to another seat. God dammit why can't this boy just sit the fuck down.

Anna and Meg we're both laughing so hard they almost fell down. Zeke and his gang of friends we're standing up in the back and roughing around. Honestly, I couldn't be able to point out everything that was happening on this bus, it's too much. I sat down and rubbed my temples in stress.

Whatever,  I thought. They'll enjoy it once we get there.

"SHIT!" The bus driver cursed and swerved, just as something heavy hit the side of the bus.

It all happened so quickly.

The force threw me to the floor and I yelped in pain and surprise. The students lurched out of their seats and onto other people and shrieking.

I felt the bus tilt to the side and the kids screamed even more. I held onto one of the seats, my body shaking in fear as my eyes were shut tight.

The bus slammed on it's side. I heard kids screaming and glass smashing to pieces. Then, as I felt my body lurch once more, something heavy hit my head.

And everything went black.
