I showed up to school completely hungover. Honestly, why did I think this was a great idea? I'm rushing to finish the powerpoint, so I can show that to the kids instead of having to teach them myself. I am a horrible teacher.

The first bell rang and my first period students rushed into the classroom. Amara was looking at me strangely, though that was nothing new. Kevin came in late; that was also nothing new. The kids chatted amongst themselves in loud groups, each not noticing my uneasiness.

The next bell rang and everyone had stopped to pledge to the flag and listen to announcements, everyone except Amara. That was weird, weirder than usual.

I started class. "Okay, everyone! Today we're starting planning on our first essay. I've started a powerpoint that explains everything..." I gestured to the board, "And you all will be writing about the thing you are most passionate about. It's due next week, and the best ones will be stapled onto the board out in the hallway, so everyone will do their best-"

A knock at the door. Castiel walked in.

"Okay, you can all start now, if anyone needs paper there's a stack on my desk. Yes? " I walked towards him.

"There's a new coffee machine in the teachers' lounge. You want me to get one for you?" he asked.

"Yes, that's so nice of you-"

"Mr. Winchester?" a voice croaked.

I sighed and turned around. "Yes, Kevin?"

"Can I have a pencil?"

"....you didn't bring a pencil to school?"

"Good luck." Castiel muttered.

I sat back down at my desk and handed a pencil to Kevin. I laid my head down on my desk. I. Am going. To pass. Out.

A girl cleared her throat. It was Amara standing in front of my desk.

"Do you need any help, Amara?" I asked.

"No." she answered. "But you do."

"What?"

She whipped her phone out and opened the Photos app. "Exhibit A..."

It was a picture of me at that bar last night.

"Exhibit B..."

It was a picture of me with that guy. Being close with that guy.

"And lastly, Exhibit C."

It was a picture of me leaving with that guy.

"Okay...how much do want to keep your mouth shut?" I uttered in a low voice.

"Honestly? Nothing!"

"Quiet!" I shushed her. "What do you mean, 'nothing'?"

"I mean, I just find it hilarious you'd hide it. You know Mr. Novak is gay too, right?"

"Yes, I know." I sighed. "But I can't tell anyone."

"Why not?" she asked.

The door opened. "I have your coffee, Dean."

I thought to myself, Why not?

____

"Having a bit of a panic, are we?" Charlie smirked.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"You're fucking hungover. And it looks like you rushed this morning, you've still got a bit of sex hair."

My cheeks went pink and my hand went to my hair, forcing it down.

"You okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine, I just-"

"Hey guys, sorry I'm late. Been busy. What'd I miss?" Castiel sat down next to us.

My face went even redder, if that's even possible.

"What's the matter, Dean? Is something wrong?" he said, worried.

"I'm fine, I...have to go."

___

It seemed like none of the kids ate lunch, they all just gathered outside to talk. Some stared when they saw me, since usually teachers never came out here during lunch. Looking through the crowd, I couldn't find him. Then I walked to the side of the building and found him leaned against the wall, with a blunt in his hand.

"Kevin."

He gasped and fumbled with the blunt, and ended up dropping it. "Mr. Winchester- I- it's not-"

"It's fine, Kevin." I sighed. "Mind if I have a smoke with you?"

"No...."

"Good." I pulled out a cigg, then lit it. It rested between my fingers as I took a drag, then breathed out.

"Have you ever liked someone you weren't supposed to like?"

"Have you?" he said back.

"I don't know yet." I admitted. "Since school started, I've been kind of confused about everything."

"So have I, generally."

"That's because you're stoned most of the time."

"I'm not...."

I stared at him with a 'don't you dare bullshit me' look.

"Okay. Just don't tell my mom." he leaned against the wall again.

"Kevin, I don't even know your mom."

"....she's your boss."

"....what?" I choked on the smoke.

"Principal Tran? I'm Kevin Tran." he emphasised his name.

I thought for a moment. "This is just between us."

"Agreed."
