Many months have gone by since the last attempt to attack our pack. I've had my child, a beautiful boy with raven black hair and my blue eyes. He is two months now. His name is Nikolai, Niko for short. Cam has become even more protective of us. I don't really mind though because I know he loves us. Cam explained when Nikolai was born that he wouldn't change until he is about five years old. That the change doesn't really activate until then. Right now Cam and I are in a clearing not far from our land. He said it's time I learn how to change to a wolf. So we are sitting here and he is explaining to me what I need to do.
"Babe, did you hear me?" I shake my head and he smiles. "I said the last thing you need to do is completely still your mind. Like when you meditate, you clear and still your thoughts. It'll just happen then." I nod my head and stand up. "Don't forget to take off your clothes. Or else you won't have any." I nod again and start stripping out of my dress. I throw it at Cam as he is staring at me, watching me. "You can do it." I nod my head again and take a deep breathe to calm my mind. I feel a ripple force it's way through my body. I fight to keep calm and my mind stilled as I change into a wolf. It seems like almost instantly I'm on the ground and on fire. I look at myself and see I did it. I changed successfully for the first time. The first thing I notice is I can hear everything. Things my human ears could not pick up. Like I hear someone shout about two miles away. My head snaps in that direction and I bare my teeth. A low growl forms at the base of my throat.
"Lena," I hear Cam whisper beside me. I look at him and he is staring at me in wonder. "You're beautiful Lena. I've never seen or heard of us being fully white. You're amazing." In my mind I grin and trot over to him. He reaches up and brushes his fingers through my fur. "You are so soft," he murmurs. I butt my head against his stomach then look up and lick his face. Cam reaches down and ties my dress around my leg. "Come on, we are going to race back." He undresses from his cotton shorts and tank top. I watch him sit on the ground and loosely tie his clothes around his ankles also. Then he closes his eyes and slows his breathing. I lay on the ground and watch him as he changes too. Before me is a dark grey wolf.
"Lena." I hear his voice in my head. My eyes widen and I pick my head up.
"I hear you in my head." He nods and stands on all fours. He comes over to me and I stand also. Cam is about half a foot taller than I am.
"Ready?" He asks. I take off running towards our land. I howl and run faster. I hear him howl in response right behind me. This is so exhilarating. I see our land right in front of me and try going faster, but Cam runs past me and I hear his laughter in my head. Growling I pick up speed, but he beats me. We run towards the small barn and switch back to our human forms. I quickly dress while laughing.
"That was so freaking cool!" Cam chuckles beside me and pulls me into a huge hug.
"You did beautifully." We walk out and everyone claps when they see me. I smile and blush at them. "Let's go to the house. I'll need to call the council. Then you and my son have all night together." I nod and smile sheepishly.
"Sounds good."
