Jared:
"Mom, I'm home." I said as I closed the front door.
Holly came around the corner into the living room. "No mom yet."
"No? Sorry, I didn't think she'd be gone this late. Was he good after I left?"
She nodded, then yawned. I tried to stifle my yawn and said, "Right there with you."
We walked out to the kitchen and I saw a small pan of smores. I cocked my head at her questioningly."
"What? I wanted something sweet."
A thought popped into my head. It was if Jake had been here or not. I hadn't seen him since before the accident. "Are you and Jake still together?"
She looked up at me like a little girl caught with her hand in the cookie jar. "He was here today, wasn't he?"
"Nothing happened he just brought me some dinner, that's all."
"Mom and Dad aren't going to be happy."
"Come on, Jared. Can't we keep this between us?"
"Mom has told you before about Jake being here when her and dad aren't."
"So I can keep secrets from mom and dad for you, but you can't keep this one for me, some brother." She said grabbing a s'more out of the pan and walking up the stairs.
That hurt. I felt really bad that we haven't been that close lately. I hear the front door click shut softly. And my mom came into sight.
"Hey. Did you just get back?" She asked setting her bag down on the counter.
I nodded.
"Jared, I'm sorry about this morning. I've had a lot on my plate." She apologized, walking over and giving me a hug. I heard the door click shut and my dad walked into view.
"I can definitely use this right now." He said with a sigh and walked over and joined us in our hug.
"Don't forget about us. Holly said walking down the stairs with Asher in her arms. I pulled Holly into the hug.
"I love you guys." I breathed out stifling a cry.
Once we pulled out of the hug, Holly walked out to the kitchen, opened the microwave, and pulled out Asher's bottle.
"Here. I'll take him my mom said. Why don't you two head up to bed?"
"Goodnight." Holly said already halfway up the stairs.
"I won't argue with that. I'm going to bed." I announced, walking up the stairs. I stopped at the top of the stairs when I heard my dad say, "I thought we were gonna talk to him tonight."
"It midnight. He's been up since six this morning. We'll talk to him tomorrow."
Every part of me wanted to walk downstairs and ask what they were talking about but a little part of me wanted to go to bed. The little part won out.

The light crept into my room. I rolled over on my bed to look at my alarm clock on the stand next to my bed. It was 11:30. I never sleep in that late, even on the weekend. I usually get up and do my off-season workout.
I closed my eyes, blocking out the light. I had an awful headache. It took me a few minutes to pull myself off of the bed.
"Morning, Jared." My mom started. "How'd you sleep?"
"Okay, I guess. I didn't hear Asher this morning."
"I guess you need your sleep. He was up a five this morning. He's colicky. Probably teething."
