~Chapter Four~
Bullets and Fire~*~
On the roof top of Chloe's hotel the seven laid low, inspecting the city from above. Due to the electrical cut, it was just a blanket of black. All that was lit was the city place where the museum stood and the hospital.
"They must be using emergency electricity," Nathaniel muttered.
My eyes trailed to the museum."What do you think is going on there?"
"I'm not sure..." Nathaniel thought for a moment before turning around to address us."Okay so here is what we do, Chloe and I will go to my house. That can be our meeting place at dawn. Myléne and Adrien can go to Myléne's."
I looked over at Adrien who smiled at Myléne. I felt jealousy kicking in that I wasn't going with Adrien but I mentally slapped myself. This wasn't the bachelor. This is about teamwork and keeping ourselves out of possible danger.
"So what are we supposed to do then," Nino asked.
Nathaniel smirked,"you get to touch up on your history at the museum."
.:!:.
My heart was pounding rapidly as the three of us snuck around the streets, on our way to see what was happening at the pyramid. Every time I took a step and it made a noise, I flinched and we would all duck.
At every turn, we would lean against the walls of the buildings and peer around the side, as if we were expecting a soldier or someone to be there waiting for us.
It was about thirty minutes of walking before we came to the road that lead to the pyramid. It was packed with cars so we couldn't overhead."We have to get closer," I whispered.
We were walking reasonably upright when I noticed the watch towers above, shining giant torches as search lights. We bent down low and began to sneak through the cars. I could hear commotion of people from the pyramid. A watch tower stood between us and a big truck that blocked our view.
I turn back to Alya and Nino,"one of us has to go," I whispered.
"Well I'm not leaving Alya here," Nino protested.
I took a deep breath,"I'll go." Alya grabbed my hand and her eyes pleaded,"if anything happens, run."
I straigthened up and watch the search light circle around and I waited for the right moment to run. I ran hurriedly across the grass, feeling the light almost catch up to me. I grabbed onto the truck and clung myself to it as I breathed heavily.
I slowly bent down and crawled under the truck to get a glimpse of the other side. My eyes widened in shock of what I saw.
A large fence surrounded the place with barbed wire strung on the top. Soldiers swarmed the area, some held vicious guard dogs that barked madly. Most importantly, thousands of Parisian citizens were held captive in side this place. All of them scared and tired.
We had been invaded alright. That is what the planes were all about. They invaded us at the dead of night when we had nothing to defend ourselves.
