"Hello?! Hello?" I shouted into the phone.

No answer.

I was sweating.

"Do I call the police? Do I wait and see if they call back?"

Not knowing what to do I called a deputy I knew from the court. I told him what happened and he said there wasn't much he could do because the number was restricted and they hadn't been able to trace the call. He said if they called again to answer and also call police to have them trace...but until then, nothing could be done.

"So much for a relaxing night at home..." I turned the TV off and went to my bedroom. Throwing my clothes on the floor I got into bed. But I couldn't sleep if I tried. I went over to the window and looked out. The dark parking lot in front of my apartment building greeted me. Dark and empty.

Wait...not empty. The dark SUV was still parked there maybe 100 feet away. And it wasn't sitting there by itself. A dark figure was standing there next to it.

Shrouded in the dark I couldn't make out who it was, or if they were looking this way.

I kept looking, straining my eyes into the dark, partly hidden by my curtain.

The head turned up towards my window and just stared.

I freaked out and closed the curtain abruptly. Panting, I tried to take a few deep breaths and opened the curtains just enough so I could look down.

The SUV was gone and so was the figure.

Not thirty seconds had gone buy and the car and person were gone. Without a sound. No car engine, no tires spinning, no car door closing...

I shivered and felt chills do up and down my body. I jumped into bed and pulled the covers up, preparing for a fitful night of sleep.
