-LOLA'S P.O.V.-

I'm not completely sure what time it was when we arrived in New Jersey but it was dark, very dark. It was so dark that we couldn't even find our house number, but after about an hour of looking around we finally found it.

I pulled my suitcases out of the boot of the taxi and dragged it up the wooden steps to the door. The door was black with a frosted window in front of it, unlike the bright red door of our old house back in New Zealand.

When we got into the house i was surprised to see a plush looking grey couch facing a wall standing flat screen TV. I looked away and to my right to go up the wooden stairs, going to pick my room before my brothers picked the best one.  When i finally dragged myself up the stairs i dropped my suitcases so i could have a look around without all this extra weight stopping me.

I slowly walked into the first doorway i could see only to find that it was the bathroom. I moved onto the next door which was about half way down the hall and opened the door to reveal a cute little room with a window just above the small single bed, this i'm guessing will be Jack's room by the size of the bed. I decided to skip the next two rooms and go towards the door at the very end of the hall. I opened the door only to find another set of stairs leading up to the attic. Curiosity getting the better of me, i put my foot on he first step and started climbing them.

When i reached the top the first thing i saw was the king size black double bed with a small skylight above it. I walked over to it and ran my hands over the soft duvet and turned around seeing a window seat covered in pillows sitting below a window covering most of the wall. I sat down, sinking into the pillows and looked out my window, looking down towards the ground seeing how high up i was, jump, my mind was telling me, i sighed and looked up towards the sky but something else caught my eye, it was the boy in the window across from mine. He had his head in his hands and his shoulders were slightly shaking, letting me know he was crying. He all of a sudden looked up towards me and i froze. His brown eyes holding mine, I couldn't look away from them but was forced to when he pulled his hand up to his eyes and wiped them roughly before running his hand through his dark brown hair. When his hand came back down to his lap i noticed he had a bright blue streak in the front of his hair, curling up and fading into the rest of it, he stood up and walked over to his window, glaring at me before suddenly pulling his curtains shut. I flinched at the sudden movement and looked up at the full moon that was resting just above the boys roof making it look like it was a part of it.

I lay down amongst the pillows and blankets i put around myself and just lay there thinking about what was going on in my life. I had gotten multiple texts from Casey when i turned my phone back on telling me how much of a bitch i was for leaving her at school to fend for herself. A small tear escaped my eye as i thought about them. They may have treated me like shit but they still took me in and acted as my friend for a long time, is it wrong to say that i miss them? I pulled up the sleeve of my sweatshirt and looked at the red cuts on my wrist, i need to get new blades. There was a faint knock at the door and i heard the door handle open revealing mum. I quickly pulled my sleeve down and sat up smiling at her.

"Hey i was just coming to see how you were settling in." She smiled softly at me. I all of a sudden remembered him, Mum's good for nothing, asshole of a person boyfriend. She never said anything about him coming with us to New Jersey.

"Yeah mum i'm fine but what happened with Noah?" She looked down as tears started to pool in her tired eyes.

"Oh um, i decided to split up with him before we came. He wasn't putting in enough effort with you guys and you're a big part of my life." it's your fault she's sad, all your fault. She smiled sadly as she stroked my cheek, pulling me into a hug.

"Well i'm settling in well thanks for checking in on me." I smiled quickly at her as she left my room and my thoughts took over once again. I went over to my window seat and got my paints out from my suitcase deciding to paint the moon that was now resting just underneath the point of the boy's roof.

Just as i was finishing off the painting i saw the window opposite mine open slightly and the boys curtains slightly part open and i could just slightly see him sitting on his bed next to someone who looked around the same age as him but i couldn't see their face. The boy had a Xbox controller in his hand and was vigorously tapping at the buttons. He stood up and put his hands in the air victoriously while laughing, i could hear it slightly through the glass of my window, it was a nice sound, something i wouldn't mind hearing everyday. He probably thinks you're ugly. I sighed, my thoughts once again ruining my happy moment.

I stepped into the shower wincing as the scalding water hit my wrist. I washed my hair with my favourite shampoo and stepped out onto the fluffy white bathmat. I slipped on my fluffy pyjama's and went back up the stairs into my room, climbing into my bed, the last thing i see before i fall asleep is the boy sitting on his bed looking down at his phone.
