When I got out of the bath, the bathroom was filled with steam and the mirror was blurry. I wiped a small circle on the mirror and studied myself. I was able to get the blood off my skin, but it still was caked underneath my fingernails. A knock came at the front door and I answered it in my towel. It was Loki.

"What do you want?" I asked bitterly, gripping my towel hard.

"Come with me. I know where they went." Loki said urgently.

"Why should that matter to me?"

"You want answers right? Then let's go get some." Loki said.

"Let me get changed first you perv." I said, finally smiling. I slammed the door in his face and ran to pack a bag and get changed. I threw clothing in a bag and I slid on leggings and a black crop top. My hair was still wet so I just threw it behind my shoulder. I snatched the duffel bag and ran to the door. Loki was still standing there when I came out. "Let's go."

"Alright, we can take my car." Loki said, walking with me down the hall.

"You have a car?"

"Who doesn't?!"

"Me, I'm only 19. I only have my N." I explained. "There's not a lot of time to practice driving with all of the assassin training."

"I guess being 21 has its perks then." Loki smirked, his black hair slightly ruffled.

"Where did they go?" I asked.

"I heard they went to the next town over. Morrisville I believe. It's an hour's drive away." Loki stated. We had reached the front door and his car was parked right outside. It was a small blue Mazda. I chucked my bag into the trunk and sat in the passenger seat. Loki's car was clean and well-kept which surprised me slightly. I was silent as Loki drove us onto the highway.

"Loki, do you regret killing those people today?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"They were there to kill everyone. I believe killing them was justified."

"Is Nico okay?"

"He will be. He was worried about you."

"Sounds like him."

"Do you still want to marry him?" Loki asked, resting one hand on the gear shift.

"I have no choice." I said, placing my hand on the seat.

"We always have a choice Mae."

"I'm scared." I stated, avoiding eye contact.

"Why?"

"Because what if I can't kill Andrew. What if when the time comes, I hesitate."

"We won't kill him. I know how much he means to you." Loki said, I didn't reply. I tentatively placed my hand over his and slipped my thumb under his. I felt a tingling sensation shoots up my arm from this simple gesture and breathed in.

"What are you doing?" Loki asked, his voice uncertain.

"Loki, I don't know what's wrong with me." I said, intertwining my fingers tightly through his. After 30 seconds of hesitation he squeezed my hand and the tingling came back, but worse this time. We drove into Morrisville like that, but completely silent. Loki pulled into a sketchy motel and I glanced at the clock; it was 11:30. Loki grabbed my duffel bag and we walked in together. There was a single light on the ceiling that set an eerie glow on the attendants face. The attendant was on her phone and looked as if she hated everyone. She had a short pixie cut like Connie and about a bazillion piercings all over her face. Loki walked up and rang the bell on the desk making the girl jolt up in her seat.

"Hello? What do you want?" The attendant asked in a rude tone.

"A room for one night please." Loki said. Placing 50 bucks on the counter.

"Okay. Two beds? Or one?"

"Two!" I piped up from behind.

"Whatever. Room 205, go up the elevator to your left." The attendant finally said, handing me a key. I smiled and marched towards the elevator, before pushing the up button. When the elevator arrived we walked in, despite the horrifying creaking sound it made. I pressed the 2nd floor button and leaned against the side of the elevator. There wasn't any lights except for a flickering black light. The hallway was super shady, there were cracks through the walls and the carpet was grungy. The door to our room was a green colour and the 2 was hanging. Loki pushed open the door and turned on the lamp on the bedside table between the two beds. The room was almost as sketchy as this whole entire place, there was a small bathroom in the corner.

"You honestly couldn't pick a less sketchy place Loki?" I asked incredulously, hesitating before sitting on one of the beds.

"I'm sorry, I didn't want to fall asleep at the wheel. Go to bed." Loki said, laying on his bed and folding his hands over his chest. I flicked off the light and lay on my side, facing him.

"Loki. Where exactly are they?"

"Some warehouse. Go to sleep." Loki answered, obviously not impressed.

"Loki." I asked after a few minutes.

"What?!" He whisper/yelled.

"Good night." I said, before turning over and tightly closing my eyes. I lay there in the darkness listening intently to the steady breathing of the person with me in the room.
