A lot had happened in the first few minutes that Alya had awoken. The nurse came in and asked if she was feeling okay, and of course Alya replied that she was fine. But there was something missing..

First of all, she did not remember how she had ended up in a hospital. More frankly, she did not remember anything, anything at all. Even her own name!

Then a boy came in. He had dark hair and brown eyes. Even though Alya had only been awake five minutes and couldn't remember anything, she thought he was cute. Like, really cute.

"Alya!" he had said excitedly, kneeling down to where she lay in her hospital bed.

Confused, Alya looked around the room. Nobody else was in there. Alya wasn't her name, right? "Who's Alya?" she asked.

Miles laughed. "I love it when you play jokes like that on me. So how are you feeling?"

Alya looked him square in the face, their gaze not drifting apart from one another for one second. "I'm serious. Who's Alya? Is she in the room somewhere where I can't see her?"

The boy, Miles, face fell. "Excuse me," he said, quickly running out of the room.

While he was outside, a gruff man came in, his burly arms about as big as Alya's body. "Ah, Alya, my daughter! How are you?"

Alya smiled. This must be my father! He's so nice!

"I'm doing better, dad, I'm just a little sore. So when are we going to go home?" she asked him.

He grinned. "Right now, if you want sweetie. The doctors gave you the all clear, and you are good to go!"

Alya flashed a small smile. "Let's go!" she said excitedly, eager to get out of the creepy hospital.

Her dad grinned and led her out the hospital window. Strange, she thought, but she let out a deep sigh. He was her dad: he wouldn't hurt her, right?

Remember that saying, what you don't know can't hurt you?

Well, little did Alya know, that saying was wrong. What you didn't know could hurt you.

Literally.
