Pietro nodded along and pretended to listen; but who could easily see that Pietro was extremely disinterested and could not possibly care less what was being said. You couldn't get too upset though, because it wasn't like you were paying attention either.
It was no secret that your parents did not particularly approve of your relationship with Pietro. You didn't really say anything to them on the matter. They were wrong and you had no intention of not seeing him. Although, in retrospect you should've been more open about your feelings. You made the mistake of bringing him by. Jake was there talking to your parents and waiting to meet you.
You felt terrible. You didn't care that Jake was going to be a doctor. You didn't care that he volunteered almost every weekend. You did care that Pietro stiffened with every compliment your parents paid him. Annoyance grew with every smile that Jake shot towards you.
It may not have been apparent to anyone else, but you could tell that Pietro's patience was being tested (not that you blamed him).
"I'm sorry, you're just so pretty. I mean I saw the pictures, but wow."
You had to assume that Pietro had finally had enough, because you were in Pietro's arms, your hair was a mess and you were at least 10 miles away. "I'm sorry."
"No, I am sorry. It was probably rude for me to take you away from the Jake." Pietro's face twisted when his name left his lips.
You didn't want to tease Pietro.... You had to though, "Is someone jealous?"
"No." Pietro scoffed, "Why would I be jealous?"
"Well, I don't know. You're much cuter and I've always had an irrational fear of doctors." You winked at him.
"I tied his shoelaces together..." Pietro looked a little guilty as he confessed. Maybe he had let his jealously get the best of him. Although, when you started laughing his face softened into a smile.
"This maybe why my parents don't like you... but it's why I love you."
