After months of laying it low and making sure the press filed fake stories of Olivia’s death, Cragen and Olivia were sent to witness protection. Olivia had just finished physical therapy and was feeling better about her situation, but was still quiet and kept to herself. She had tried going to therapy in an attempt to regain some stability, but stopped knowing that she would be moved to another place, and given another life so in all reality, she didn’t feel there was a need to try and solve anything when she was going to be uprooted.

What neither her nor Cragen knew was that they were being moved to the same town that Elliot lived in, right across the street in fact. It was one of the deal’s Tucker had worked out, he really felt for Olivia and wanted her to get better and knew, the only way that would happen were if she was with Elliot.

---

Elliot stood at the end of the stairs that morning, “Lizzie, Dickie, Mo, Kat, Eli, get down here before your breakfast gets cold!” he called as he got ready for work. He was trying to tie a tie and was getting frustrated. Any time he wore a tie to work usually, they were clip ons, but his new boss, the mayor of the new town he was living in, required actual ties.

He was her bodyguard, apparently she needed one, not everyone in the town welcomed her presence, and he couldn’t quite understand why, but dismissed it. The Stabler family had been given completely new identities, and while he liked the idea of starting over, he hated the town, hated the trees, the people, the fact that it wasn’t New York, but knew that it was for his family's safety, and he would do anything for his kids.

Kathy looked out the window and hummed softly “looks like we have neighbors, they must’ve moved in the middle of the night because by the looks of it all their stuff is already inside.” she thought out loud.

Elliot, being the nosy man he was, decided to take a look, after a few moments of staring, he muttered “I hate neighbors.” before having Kathy help with his tie. He called the kids down once more and left for his shift.

He met the mayor at her mansion, she was a beautiful woman, with dark hair, and dark eyes to match. Her wardrobe reminded him of some of the lawyers he had seen in court, but her clothes were brand name and looked expensive. She had a son whom Dickie liked to play with after school. Her name was Regina Mills, and Kathy despised her because she looked like Olivia back when Olivia had first joined the force and became Elliot’s partner. The woman was his wife’s enemy, and that’s precisely why he liked his job. It was no secret that Kathy and Elliot had grown apart after the separation. He had caught her cheating on him, and if he was honest, he wasn’t sure Eli was his at first, but after a paternity test he knew he was.

Ever since then he and Kathy had been distant, she wanted to mend things, but Elliot didn’t. Her pregnancy announcement had been the only reason the two got back together. So now that he had a supposed new “work wife”, Kathy was angry with him for it, which didn’t shock him.

Knocking lightly at her door she opened it for him, “Thank you for meeting me so early, Henry has a project due and he wants to set it up before school, and I figured I could get a head start on the day.” Regina explained and Elliot nodded as she pulled on her jacket and called for her son. He came down holding his volcano and smiled seeing his friend’s dad. “Hey Mr. Meloni.” he smiled. Elliot’s fake name was Christopher Meloni and he had to admit it had a nice ring to it. He smiled greeting the boy and ruffling his hair a bit. Henry was about ten and reminded him of his son, so he liked the kid a lot.

He walked with them to the school since it was only a few blocks and then drove Regina to the police station so she could talk to the sheriff, Graham, about the new recruits he would be getting today. Their names were Maria and Dan James, and they were both detectives from Pittsburg according to their files. Elliot rolled his eyes figuring they were just beat cops who got lucky and passed their detectives exam.

That is until Olivia and Cragen walked through the door. His eyes widened at the sight of his friends and both of them were surprised to see him as well.

They were debriefed and Regina met Graham in his office to talk.

Olivia looked at Elliot and swallowed hard. Here he was right in front of her. Cragen was first to speak. “I didn’t know this was where they put you.” he said softly. Elliot nodded “Storybrooke is kinda a government secret, it’s not on any map, it’s where a lot of people in witness protection go.” he admitted softly and the group nodded in agreement. Elliot turned to Olivia and then back to his captain. “So what are you guys doing here exactly?” he asked Olivia rolled her eyes at his comment, “we had to be relocated, new lives, new identities, fake deaths, just like you, believe me we don't like it as much as you don't.” she stated, Elliot looked at her, shocked by her attitude, she hadn't been the one to have outbursts like that, usually it was the other way around. He creased his brow noticing something, “What’s that?” he pointed to a scar on her hand that hadn’t been there before in the 12 years that he had known her. “It’s nothing.” she stated quickly folding her hands across her chest in an attempt to hide it. “No, is it the reason you were forced here?” he asked quickly jumping to conclusions. “Is that why you’re here?” he asked getting more worked up at the thought of her having been hurt, “Did someone hurt you?” he questioned more as the vein in his neck popped out, he was angry at the thought that anyone had hurt her, that anyone put their hands on her in general. “It’s nothing Elliot, drop it.” Olivia stated seriously and he shook his head “It’s Chris.” he corrected and Olivia narrowed her eyes. She shook her head and turned on her heels and walked out of the squad room angry. Cragen sighed softly and left with her. Elliot shook his head and tried to calm down before Regina came out and they went somewhere else.

*Back in New York*

“This is jank.” Fin shook his head angrily as he paced around. “Elliot gets to leave this shit hole, Olivia and Cap get to leave, and I’m stuck here with yo crusty, nasty ass.” he stated quite mad. “I am not crusty, and the only thing nasty about me is my affiliation with you.” Munch rolled his eyes. “Man, whatchu talkin’ ‘bout?” Fin questioned “I am the better part of you.” he scoffed. “No but for real, they had to go and leave me with the one person who can’t make decent coffee.” Fin huffed and Munch shook his head “You love my coffee.”

“Nah man, no one likes the sludge you call coffee, you need to work on your coffee makin’ skills.”

“My coffee makin’ skills are fine Fin,”

“No, I swear it could clog up your arteries after one sip.”

“Don’t tell me you’re going vegan or something.”

“First of all, vegan is healthy, second of all, you know me better than that you’ve bought lunch for the 11 years I’ve known you.”

“12, and yes I’m aware of your unhealthy obsession with carbs and fat.”

“Oh wow, skeletor has jokes.” Fin rolled his eyes.

“You’re just mad they left you with me and a bunch of rookies.”

Fin paced once more and shook his head. “We need to get to them.” he stated seriously “True, but how do we manage that one?” he asked and Fin thought about it, “I know a guy.” “Who?” “A guy named Diago, he works in the Witness Protection Program, he owes me a favor, he can get us in.”

“I’m down.”

*Two Days Later*

“Welcome home, Mr. and Mr. Austin” Stated the agent, Fin looked at him creasing his brow, “I’m sorry, what? Like, siblings? Cousins? Why we got the same name?” he asked confused and Looked at the files they were given. “Awe Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, you playin Diago, This right here says we’re married, as in couple, as in… no.”

“Yes. Welcome home, you two love bugs you.” Diago smiled before leaving.

Munch wrapped his arms around Fin from behind “Oh pookie, don’t be so angry, this is our honeymoon.” He said in a singsong voice. “If you don’t get yo bony hands off me-” he said pulling away. “Nuh-uh, there ain’t no way, yo grown ass is sleepin on the couch.”
