“What happened?” Ed Tucker asked Olivia for what seemed like the hundredth time, and for the hundredth time she shrugged and muttered a soft ‘I don’t know’ in response. Eventually he released her and put his head in his hands. Every detective he had spoken to had said the same thing. The same monotone “I don’t know” and minute details. He didn’t have enough to make a case, he didn’t have enough to file anything etc.

Olivia stepped out of the room and got ready to go home. She was suppose to talk to Huang but she wasn’t prepared to do that just yet. She had been going to a regular therapist by the name of Archie Hopper, and she was trying to piece together what happened to her and how exactly she was suppose to deal with it. How she was suppose to deal with Elliot too. He was especially distant lately, and despite the fact that they shared an apartment, that was about all that they shared. She was beginning to understand why Kathy had been so frustrated with him during their marriage. On the topic of Kathy, she had moved in with them, and one could understand just how awkward having your boyfriend’s ex wife live with you. She shook her head and went home thinking quietly about what the future held.

Opening the door to the house she slowly sat her stuff on the kitchen counter and sighed softly going upstairs. She went to her bedroom and her eyes widened when she saw Elliot and Kathy kissing.

Her jaw dropped and Elliot pulled away noticing her. “Olivia, wait, it’s not what it looks like.” he said quickly and was met by a slamming door to the face.

It had been a few months. Olivia hadn’t spoken with the pair, she had declined phone calls and family dinners with the squad, she was essentially a hermit, just how she preferred it. In another life she would have talked to Elliot straight away, but with all that they had been through she couldn’t bare the thought of him going back to Kathy once more. She had turned to the constant sleeping, the dark blackout curtains that kept her from receiving the right amount of vitamin D that would trigger a dopamine response and give her the energy to just, step out of bed. Even that was a struggle these days.

A knock on the door signaled Elliot. He was there every day, same time, for the same amount of time. He wanted to talk to her, but she wanted him to go away, she wanted everyone to go away. Sadly however that, wasn’t an option. Elliot had taken the week off, and he decided he wasn’t going to leave until she opened that door. Much to his surprise, it didn’t take long. “What Elliot.” She said softly, her mocha hair framing her face perfectly, and he swore she was the most beautiful woman he had seen. “I need to talk to you.” he whispered. “Yes, well, I’m not in the mood to talk right now.” She whispered softly and he shook his head, “Well the thing is , you never want to talk, so I feel like, I’ll do the talking and you can do the listening.” he said softly offering a cup of coffee as a peace treaty sort of thing. She took it and sighed before letting him in.

He was surprised she actually let him in, but said nothing to let her know that. “What you saw back there Liv, it wasn’t at all what it looked like.” he said softly waiting to hear her reaction, because that’s how Kathy was, only she didn’t provide a reaction. She just listened and waited. He knew then he had to stop comparing the two because they were two completely different people. He bit his lip, “She showed up,”. . .

*Flashback*

A knock on the door signaled Kathy’s arrival. He got up from his spot on the couch and slowly opened the door, rolling his eyes slightly at the sight, “What are you doing here?” he asked and she sighed, “I thought you would want an update on your baby, but I can leave.” she mumbled and he softened his expression, “Sorry, I didn’t think that you were here for… that.” he said softly and she nodded, “So can I come in or not? It’s freezing out here.” she sighed and he nodded before letting her in and closing the door behind him.
