Chapter 12: Explainations

[Levi's POV]

"Alright, what's your excuse?" I ask the Zane kid, he looks at me then looks away

"Well since your a friend of Ru's I'll talk." He says still not looking me "The current ring master wasn't always the ring master here. You see the original ring master was a very nice man until..." He trailed and looked around before he continued "Until he was murdered by his brother the current ring master." He whispered "his brother was always jealous of his older brother, so one day his brother went missing and no one's seen him since, but after he disappeared his brother took over the circus and was very strict with us. He would beat us and whip us every time we messed up during a show, disobeyed him, spoke out against him, or kept messing up during practice." He paused to roll up his sleeve to reveal many cuts and bruises along his arm, everyone gasped in horror as the girl named Lin did the same and revealed the same thing on her arms,

"That's awful." Sasha blurted, they both nodded

"Tell me. Have you ever seen Ruby's arms?" Lin asked we all shook our heads "That's what I thought. Scars like these take more than 5 years to heal, I guarantee that if you grab her arm and not her wrist that she'll flinch and if you roll up her sleeves they'll be scars just like ours." She added as they both rolled down their sleeves

"Please, if you see the ring master please don't tell him we we told you all this." Zane asked, I looked at him

"Why?" I asked, he looked up at me

"He'll beat me, like he'll do if I had turned him in for the poison. I didn't know Ruby would be poisoned, it didn't say that on his list, but don't worry about her, here at the circus at least all of us have been poisoned more then 3 times for a bad show." He explained

"And like you saw her, she doesn't blame Zane." Lin added, after a little while of asking more question we all finally said good bye and left.
