My phone kept buzzing besides me. School had just gotten out, which means Derrick has read my note. He kept calling and texting me. I simply blasted the radio and kept driving. It was an hour later when my phone stopped buzzing.

It was around eight o'clock when I pulled over on the side of the road. I looked at my phone and saw that my parents had tried calling me. I called them back immediately.

"Abi? Are you okay?" my mom asked, scared.

"Yes, mommy, it's me."

"I'm so sorry, baby girl. I should have seen that you were not doing well. I'm so sorry."

Her response broke my heart. It wasn't her fault. It was my fault not hers. She had nothing to be sorry about.

"Honey, where are you?" my dad said obviously trying to figure out where I was so he could take me back home.

"Dad, I'm not coming home. At least not for a week or so." I was going to stand my ground. I needed to get away from everyone. I needed to just clear my head and figure out what I was going to do next.

"Do you really need this, Abi? Do you really need to just stay away from everyone for a little while?" my dad asked, having my well being in mind.

"Yes, daddy, I really do need this."

"Then you can stay where ever you are, but you need to be in contact with us every now and again. If you go two days without talking to us then we are coming and getting you." My dad always tries to understand me and always considers my feelings before making a decision. This just shows that he is the best dad in the world.

"Thank you, daddy."

"Honey, just be safe and be careful. We love you very much," my mom said in the background.

"I love you too."

I hung up and kept driving until my eyes couldn't stay open any longer. I saw a sign for a motel a mile away and I decided that that was where I was going to be staying for the night. I got out of my car and looked around, inspecting the outside. The motel didn't look the nicest, but what motel is nice? The exterior was a little spooky. The paint was peeling off the walls as well as there were garbage bags on some of the windows.

I was about to get back in my car when someone said, "It's not as bad as it looks."

I looked over to where I heard the voice come from. I could see a guy in what looked to be the motels employee uniform. He was smoking a cigarette, but put it out when I looked at him. He started walking over to me. I was too scared to move. This place looked really sketchy and I wasn't about to just trust a stranger who works at this creepy motel.

"The rooms aren't bad. Well besides a few, but we don't put anyone in those," he said, walking a little bit closer to me. I took a step back, wanting distance between us. The closer he got to me the more I could see that he was only a few years older than me. That made me feel better, but not by much. Right then, I regretted leaving. I wanted Derrick to come and save me. Wanted him to hug me and make me feel safe.

"I'll give you the best room we have. I promise. It's late and a young lady like yourself shouldn't be out this late with the creeps in this town." He could see that I was still hesitant to trust him or even get close to him. "I'm not one of those creeps. I just work at this stupid motel trying to save money to get out of this town."
