This is a possible chapter for Rainbow After the Rain, the story from Derrick's point of view. I wanted to write his point of view of after the gym class, which shows Derrick defending Abi.

**********

You reject an evening with me and instead do a quickie with Derrick.

The sentence repeats in my head as I make my way towards the gym. I know I shouldn't have left Abigail like that, but his words just clicked in my head. He hit on her. He hit on my girl.

I storm through the halls with my fists clenched. He will pay for saying those things. He will regret even coming close to her.

I see the football team heading towards the football field.

"Jared," I call, ready to tell him a piece of my mind.

Jared looks back and sees that it is me. I hate the way he smirks when he sees that it is me. He tells his teammates that he will meet them out on the field.

"Does your girl want a round two? I mean can you blame her? Look at me, I'm a god," Jared says gesturing to himself.

"What the hell did you tell Abi?" I asked, stepping closer to him.
"Abi? You have a nickname for her? How cute."

"What did you tell her?"

"Relax, all I did was tell her the truth. You just want her so you can see if the rumors are true."

I was trying so hard to hold back my rage, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. I shoved him as hard as I could. He expected that I would do something to him so he didn't fall like I would have liked.

"You're an asshole. You know that isn't true."

"Awww, is Derri falling for her?" Jared said in a mocking baby voice.

I hadn't noticed until then that I was doing all of this for a girl. Normally I could have a girlfriend and I would only do this to show her that I care, but there is more to it this time. I wasn't going to allow someone like Jared say those things about her.

Jared's laugh snapped me out of my daze.

"What can I say, maybe you aren't her type. Maybe you didn't satisfy her needs in the locker room. Maybe she needs someone to show her a real time just like Sarah needed."

I knew he was just trying to pick a fight bringing up my ex-girlfriend. Jared was once my friend. He had seen how happy I was with her, but decided to sleep with her. She didn't seem to be too upset when I walked in on them. I was more hurt by Jared doing that to me than Sarah sleeping with him. Things weren't the best between her and I, but I thought I could trust Jared.

"Abi isn't like Sarah," I said through clenched teeth. My fists were clenched that I'm sure if I kept them clenched for a long time my nails would draw blood.

"You're right. She isn't. She is even easier to get into bed with me."

I closed the few feet between Jared and I. "Don't you dare. You stay the hell away from her," I said through clenched teeth. "Don't touch her. Don't even dare to look at her. "

"But she feels so nice," he said, with a smirk.

He touched her.

"It was very easy to feel her curves. She froze up and allowed me to run my hand down her side. She is hiding some amazing curves under her big shirts."

He touched her. He touched Abi. He touched my girl.

"You asshole!" I screamed. I couldn't hold back anymore. I pulled back my right arm and punched him right in the eye. I wanted to make sure that everyone would see that he was in an accident tomorrow as well as he couldn't play with a black eye. "Don't you fucking touch her!"

Jared stumbled back with a hand over his eye.

"You ever try to touch her again or even get close to her, I swear, Jared. I can't believe I ever considered you a friend. You are just as bad everyone says. You tell anyone that this happened and I will tell everyone about that time you sang in the nude to yourself in the mirror. I will post the video for everyone to see."

I knew a lot about Jared's past. I had an endless supply of embarrassing things for the school to find out. Jared cares a lot about his image, so having these things available to ruin his image is not good.

"I won't tell anyone," Jared said, still on the ground.

"Good."

I turn to leave, but Jared keeps talking.

"I'm sorry about Sarah. She wasn't worth ruining our friendship."

I could tell that he meant it. I walked over to help Jared up. I felt like I was talking to my old friend.

"It's okay. It's in the past."

"You really like her," Jared stated.

I couldn't help, but smile when I thought about her. She has been on my mind the entire day. "She is different than every other girl."

"You were about to kiss her during gym, weren't you?"
"I don't know," I say honestly, "I just met her, but something is different. And then when she almost fell and I caught her I forgot everything but her. And we were so close. We were bound to get disturbed before I worked up the courage."

"She was shocked when I told her that you were using her. I could tell that she was hurt. And by the way I saw her looking at you, she feels something towards you too. Don't let her get away."

I smiled. "Thanks for letting me know that. I won't let her get away without putting up a fight. Go practice seeing with one eye for the game in a few days," I said, knowing that he would have to play with a swollen eye.

"Yeah," he said, feeling his eye. "I deserved that. Good luck, man."

"Thanks."

I headed to my car happier than I was before. Abigail might actually have feelings for me. I hope what Jared was tell me was true. There is something different about her. Something that I can't explain. I can't let her slip through my hands.

I can't let her slip through my hands
