10. You're going home

Chapter Ten

The next morning Alex wasn't lying beside me when I woke up. My heart thudded against my chest as I climbed out of bed and headed down the stairs. Sebastien and Jack were sat around the table playing cards. "Where's Alex guys?" I asked them. They shrugged their shoulders at me before they continued to play the card game. I sighed before I headed outside.

I spotted Alex sitting beside the pool with his feet in the water. "Alex?" I said as I went to sit next to him. He turned around and looked at me. He didn't smile, his facial expression was blank as I sat beside him. He looked away

"You don't have to do this you know." He said

He looked down at the water as he spoke as if he was trying to hide his emotions. I started to wonder if he actually wanted me around him.

"You don't have to put up with me either." I told him. Alex looked into the distance and sighed.

"What's happening?" I asked him.

"How am I supposed to know?" Alex looked at me and I could tell he was annoyed at me. He stared at me.

"I don't have the answers to everything!" He yelled.

"What are we talking about?" I asked him a little confused.

Alex gave me a look. "You. That's what we are talking about."

"What about me?" I asked.

Alex stood up and walked away. "What about me?" I shouted.

Alex turned around. "I'm not stupid Demi!" He yelled.

"I've been training since I was three years old Demi. I know when someone is lying." He added.

"I'm not lying about anything." I replied to him.

"Oh really?" He asked. "Because I beg to differ Demi."

There was silence between us. "You're going home." Alex told me.

I shook my head. "I want to stay with you."

Alex's face softened. "You can't." He came towards me.

"Demi do you know why we are on the run?" He asked.

I shook my head at him. "Because there are people out there who want to kill you." Alex added.

"Why?" I asked

"We don't know. I thought I did but I was wrong. Until we know why, you can't be around me." He explained.

I looked down at the floor. "But what about you?" I asked.

"I'll be okay." He reassured me. I shook my head at him as tears started to fall.

"I don't want to leave." My voice cracked at the end.

Alex pulled me into his arms. "Please Demi, I just want you to be safe."

"While you are with me, people will track you down and I don't want that to happen." He said.

"But I thought bad guys were stupid." I replied.

Alex laughed a little although he sounded like he was so close to crying. He held me close as I clung onto him.

"Please don't make me leave." I whispered.

"I don't want to but I have to." Alex replied.

"I have a bad feeling about this." I told him

"You'll be okay. I'm not going to leave you on your own."

Unknown POV

"And who said he wasn't going to leave her?" I cackled with glee.

Diana and Eddie looked at me. "We didn't think he would." Diana admitted.

"Never say never." I replied to her.

There was silence in the room before Diana and Eddie pulled a face at them kissing for the last time.

"You know what you have to do right?" I asked

"Take her to you." Diana said a minute later as she looked at me.

"And if she doesn't co operate?" I asked.

"Kill her." Eddie replied.

Demi's POV

Rosie was all set and ready for me to go. Alex told Rosie to make sure I ate something on the way before he shut the car door and Rosie started her engine. I looked at Alex until he disappeared out of sight.
