Nick's P.O.V
It had been twelve years since me and Judy solved the night howlers case. Those days were the best in my life. Not just because they were fun, but because those days have changed my life for the better. I don't know where I'd be without Judy. Probably going down a bad road. But I'm glad I'm with Judy. I've gotten everything I've ever asked for. A happy marriage, two hybrid kits, good friends, everything I could've ever dreamed. And to think, what would happen if me and Judy never met?
"Nick?" Judy asked. She I looked down to see her staring at me with a blank face. I must've been staring into space.
"Oh, yea, sorry. I was just...thinking." I replied.
"Well, get ready, today's Clementines and A.J's first day of 1st grade. We can't miss it!" She said happily as Clementine sat in her lap. I smiled.
Clementine was a hybrid. She is mostly bunny, but part fox as well. She has grey fur, with red ears, and a small fox tail. I've been wanting to teach her just a little bit of conning, but Judy won't let me. Clementine just turned 6 last week.
A.J is completely different. First off, A.J is a male. He's mostly fox and has some bunny in him. He's got white fur all around and a black muzzle. I don't know where the color came from, but you can't argue with genetics. Come to think about it, I think my grandfather had white fur. I don't know. Anyway, today was their first day in 1st grade. They were super excited and so were me and Judy. Me and Judy were sad mostly because we won't see Clementine and A.J as much. They meant the world to me and Judy. But today is gonna be a great day.
But some people frown upon hybrids. That's what worries me. I'm worried A.J and Clementine will get picked on. That's what keeps me up at night. Every time we go out as a family, we get looks from all kinds of mammals.
Once we loaded A.J and Clementine up, we got in the car and drove off. A.J was in his car seat playing with his toy. He looks so cute when he does that. Clementine was talking to me and Judy.
"Will you pick me up fwom school today?" She asked.
"Of course we will sweetie. We'll be there to pick you up immediately." I said in a comforting tone. Judy smiled at me and put her paw on my arm. I smiled back.
Once we reached the parking lot at the school, the felling was bittersweet. On one hand, I was excited for Clem and A.J to start school, but on the other hand, I was sad that we weren't gonna see them as much.
After walking through the halls, we finally found their classroom. I bent down to A.J and gave him a hug and said that I loved him and for him to have a good day. He hugged me back.
"I wuve you too daddy!" He said. That melted my heart. Once I let go, he went to Judy and buffered her. I went over to Clem and she did the same. They hopped into the classroom as we waved goodbye.
Clementine's P.O.V
Saying goodbye to daddy was hard. I will miss them a lot. I grabbed A.Js hand and pulled him with me. We hopped to the teacher and said hello with a smile. She was an armadillo.
"Why hello there little ones! What are your names?" She asked happily.
"I'm Clementine! And this is A.J, my brother." I nicely replied. A.J hid behind my back.
"He's very shy." I added.
"Well, nice to meet you, Clementine and A.J. Have a seat wherever you want!" She said happily. I saw a fox sitting at a seat all alone. I felt sorry for her, so I said hello.
"Hi! I'm Clementine, your new classmate! You can call me Clem though!" I said happily. She smiled back at me.
"I'm Patricia! And who's that behind you?" She asked pointing to my side. I looked down to see A.J hiding behind my back again.
"Oh, he's my brother A.J. Don't mind him, he's just a little shy." I said. "A.J, say hello to Patricia, she's very nice!"
A.J came out and said hello nervously.
"Hi A.J! How are you?" She asked. When she did, A.J wasn't shy anymore. He started talking to Patricia like he'd known her his whole life. I smiled at that. The day went by really fun. At lunch me, A.J and Patricia sat together. At recess, we played tag. It was so much fun. Until I heard A.J start to cry.
I ran to A.J and saw a bunch of elephant student shoving A.J into the dirt. He was crying even more.
"Stupid hybrid!!" One of them yelled. The others laughed. Right as he went to pick up A.J, I ran to him.
"Leave him alone!" I yelled getting up in the elephants face. No turning back now.
"What do you think you're do- wait, she's a hybrid too! And a stupid one!" He laughed!! The others laughed too.
"Be quiet!" I yelled at him. He got mad and shoved me to the ground.
He then stepped on my leg really hard. I yelled in pain. He let go and walked off with his friends while he laughed. Patricia ran over to me and helped me up.
"Are you okay?!" She asked worryingly. I got up.
"Yea, I'm fine." I said as I helped my brother up. He was still crying, but not as much. I was sad for the rest of the day. I wanted to hug my parents all day so badly. I missed them so much.
When mom and dad picked me and A.J up, I told them about what happened. They called the school about this and they said they would stop this. I thought it was over.
But I was wrong.
