The guy introduced himself as Jax. He said that he was the oldest one there at the moment, being 18 years old. Hazel was staring at him the whole time. Jax said that if he ever needed anything to just ask. He nodded and went back to staring out the window. He heard footsteps so he assumed that the had left. The next thing he knew, Hazel began to talk. He turned around so he could see her, expecting her to be right behind him. To his surprise, she was still sitting at the door.

He asked her why she didn't come in like Jax had. She said that there were rules that said a girl can't go into a boys room, and vice versa. He walked over to the mirror in his room and looked at himself. The shaggy black hair, dark skin tone, and dark eyes. He looked over at Hazel, who had long brown hair, light skin, and beautiful green eyes. The longer he stood there, the more features she pointers out on him. The one she found most interesting was how his eyes changed from a really dark brown to black.

He went and sat on his bed and continued to look out the window, and began to ignore her. She just kept talking, going on about how he would love it there, and that if he just came out of his room, he would make a ton of new friends. But, he just shook his head and laid down. One of the nurses was watching, and she told Hazel to leave him alone. So she got up and walked away slowly.

Dinner time came around, and Hazel had to practically dragged him to the cafeteria, saying the whole time that he needed to eat. Finally he decided to follow her to the cafeteria, grabbed his food, and went and sat by a window by himself. Hazel came up and sat right beside him. He began to eat, and she did the same. She asked him why he looked out the window so much. He just shrugged his shoulders and told her that he didn't know.

Later that night he was having trouble sleeping. Next thing he knew Hazel walked into his room, despite the rule. He quickly asked her what she was doing. She told him how there were no nurses there between 1 and 3:30 am. He looked at her, a bit confused. So she went on to say that you could do just about anything between these times. He asked her how she knew what time it was, and she pointed to something on his wall. He soon realized that it was a clock. He then saw that it was 1:30.

So she began telling him how she came to thus place. She told him her father had severely beaten her and now she has trouble sleeping at night because of it. She said that she also hears voices and sees things that aren't really there. She lifted up the back of her shirt to reveal the scars from her father. He looked up at the clock and saw that it was almost 3, and told her that she better get to her room before she got caught.

Later that morning he came out of his room to meet people. Hazel was so happy that he came out of his room, and she followed him everywhere. He started to talk to Jax a little, and began to look up to him a little bit. Later him, Hazel, Jax, and a girl named Kayla went down to an art room. Jax got out some clay and said that the all could make something. So he thought for a few minutes, and then he took some clay. He took his time making it into a sphere, and put some craters in it. Once he was done, he quietly waited for the others to finish.

Once they were all finished, it was time for lunch. They all went to lunch together. Instead of just Hazel sitting with him, Jax and Kayla sat with them. Halfway through lunch, he noticed Hazel's hand reaching out for his. He quickly moved his hand, finished his food, and walked back to his room alone. He decided to lay down and take a nap. About ten minutes later he heard footsteps come in his room and back out. Jax, he thought to himself. He heard Jax tell someone that he was asleep and not to worry.

He woke up about 4 hours later, and saw hazel laying in his doorway coloring. He got up to see what it was that she was drawing, but she quickly shut the book so he couldn't see. They walked out to the common room together, and she had a smile on her face. About an hour later they all went to dinner. After dinner they went back to the art room. His sphere had dried enough to where he could paint it. He found some white and grey paint and got to work.

Once the paint was dry, he walked over to Hazel. He held out the moon to her and told her to take it. She looked a bit confused, so he repeated himself. She got a really huge smile on her face. She took the moon and ran back to her room. She came back with her notebook and began drawing in it again. About an hour later, he got tired and decided to go to bed. And a few hours later, he was woken up to see that Hazel was crying.
