Ruby - Origins - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Déjà Vu

They touched down smoothly in Philly, where they were met by a brilliant yellow Camaro. The runway was part of an active airfield, and the autobots did not transform from their vehicle modes. 

Ruby rode with Optimus. He led the way, with the twins bringing up the rear. When the odd group of vehicles reached the main road, Optimus with Ruby and Bumble Bee turned left, whilst Sideswipe, Ironhide, Jolt, Ratchet and the Twins went right. 

Optimus' team were going to find Sam, and Ironhide's team were off to intercept the decepticons. Ruby felt a small flicker of relief. She'd never been in battle before, let alone against towering, angry alien robots with advanced weaponry. 

A helicopter hovering over an old foundry caught Ruby's eye. It was a Russian heavy lift chopper, exactly like the one that had plucked her car off the road after she'd been chased by Charlotte. It looked like the same one that had then dropped it into an old warehouse, to be attacked by Megatron. 

She rubbed her shoulders, the memory reminding her of the pain. Ruby mentioned it to Optimus, sure he may not be able to talk in vehicle mode but he could still hear. 

He braked hard and veered towards the chopper. Ruby clutched the seat to prevent herself from being flung into the door. Behind, Bumble Bee copied him. They really flawed their engines all the way up to the foundry, transforming before crashing through the walls. 

Ruby jumped clear of the moving metal and ran after them. 

She was hit with a tidal wave of déjà vu. Megatron had a boy pinned down, and there was even a battered, upside down car close by. Optimus hurtled into Megatron. 

Ruby tore her eyes away from their fight and sprinted to the boy who must be Sam. He sat up gingerly, obviously sore from being flung about, if he had been subjected to a similar experience as Ruby had been when she met Megatron. 

Ruby helped him up, "You have to get out of here!" she exclaimed, as Bumble Bee flung another decepticon out of the hole in the roof. He transformed back into a Camaro, and two people Ruby hadn't noticed before, got in. He drove away as fast as he could. 

The ground trembled as Optimus blew Megatron backwards through the wall with one of his canons. He turned back to Ruby, "Sam, Ruby!" he called urgently before transforming back into a truck. 

They threw themselves in the cab, and Optimus sped off. 

"I'm Ruby, by the way," she said to Sam.

"Sam," he nodded, still trying to catch his breath.

Optimus headed out of town, towards a near-by forest. Ruby thought they were clear and began to relax, just to receive a shock from Sam, who began screaming; 

"He's coming he's COMING!"

Ruby followed his gaze in the side mirror to see the most bizarre-looking tank tearing after them. Unlike the autobots' vehicle modes, this looked completely alien.

"I thought he transformed into an alien jet?" said Ruby, voicing her confusion.

"So did I," Sam replied weakly.

Megatron was gaining on them; Ruby predicted what was about to happen just in time to grab hold of Sam and pull him safely out the way of a transforming Optimus. 

Megatron transformed without slowing. He slammed into Optimus. The bulk of them both flew past.

Ruby gave a Sam a stern look, and said, "Run."
