Reilly's (POV)
As the day grew shorter, Halloween grew closer. By the end of the day Mira and I were practically running to the bus. Since my brother had football practice we couldn't get a ride from him. It was Halloween night so I told my mom I was going to go to Mira's and pass out candy and spend the night.
As soon as we entered the bus I smelt a disgusting aroma of rotten cheese. Spitballs where flying everywhere along with the occasional paper airplane. This is why I hate riding the bus.
When we finally picked a seat and sat down I felt something wet on my neck. I brought my hand down to where I felt the wetness and touched a wet piece of paper. As soon as the realization hit, I grabbed it off my neck and threw it to the ground. I hated being the target of a spitball.
The rest of the bus ride went a lot like earlier. I had about 200 spitballs on me by the time the hour long bus ride was over. I don't know how they were supplying all that paper seeing as they never even have paper in class to do their homework.
By now the floor of the bus was covered in spitballs because of how many I had to take off of me. Mira had a few, but not nearly as much as me. My hair was now in a tangled mess.
When the bus finally stopped at Mira's driveway, I gladly rushed off. Mira got out right after me and we headed down her driveway. Her driveway was pretty short so it didn't take long to arrive at her house. When the house came into view I took in the usual scenery. Her house was definitely one of the biggest houses on her street. The lawn was neatly kept like always and there were statues in random places all over the yard.
When we climbed the stairs and rounded the corner, we entered her room. I threw my backpack in my usual spot right next to her dresser and fell backwards onto her bed. When I sat up I began to look through my drawstring bag for my costume. I pulled out the blue and white plaid dress and set it aside.
When I got the rest of my costume together I stepped outside her room and headed down the hall towards her bathroom. When I closed the door and locked it I began to get ready.
I slipped on the blue and white dress, tied my messy hair into two pigtails, and slipped on the sparkly red, pinchy shoes. Once I applied my makeup I headed back to her room. When I was inside I saw her twirling, admiring her dress. I guess she decided not to be an 80's chick. Instead she wore a long, white dress with golden ribbon around the waist. Her halo fit on top of her head perfectly. Her long golden blonde hair made her look gorgeous.
"I didn't know you changed your mind," I said giving her a bad time.
"Oh, sorry I forgot to tell you. You look really good though." She blushed as she tried to apologize.
"You look amazing." I admitted.
I have to admit I was a little jealous. After all she was an angel and looked incredible and I was Dorothy off of The Wizard Of Oz and looked, not so incredible.
As soon as Mira made a few adjustments to her costume and put her wings on, we headed downstairs. When we got to the main door, it was still light out, so we handed out candy to the little kids that came early.
When it began to get dark Mira's brother Connor came back and we headed out.
Connor was dressed like the Hulk, which wasn't unusual for him. He was always dressed as a superhero. Last year it was Captain America. Next year will probably be, like, Iron Man or something.
As we passed several houses, our bags began to pile up with candy by the minute. We occasionally got a couple weird looks, but by the time Halloween was over it would be worth it.
When we came to the next house we rang the doorbell and silently waited. When the lady finally came to the door she added a butterfinger, my favorite, to my half full pillow case. We decided to go the old fashioned way so we could get more candy instead of trying to fit it all in one tiny bucket.
When we finished with that house we went on to the next house, which had a small haunted house. As I entered I heard creepy music in the background. The ground made noises and looked like it had lava under it. It must be some special affect thing. Nothing was really too scary until a middle aged man dressed in a black cloak, holding a hatchet appeared. Not expecting it, I screamed and ran. I was soon followed by Mira too. When I thought I was far enough away so he would stop chasing me I stopped to walk again. When I heard footsteps behind me, I turned to see the man still chasing us. Wouldn't he have to chase other people that were coming? This was unusual.
When the man that was coming got closer, I started to run again. The man looked like he really was out to get us. When I got out of the haunted house, I slowed my pace down to a walk again. Mira was standing right beside me, along with Connor. Connor didn't seemed to be phased by the man chasing us and pulled Mira on to the next house.
By about 9:30, our pillow cases were as full as they could be. We decided to head back to Mira's house and dump all our candy and then head back out for round two.
When we returned to the house where we left off at we continued to get candy. When our bags were almost full again I had to go to the bathroom.
I told Mira to meet me at her house when they were done, since our bags were almost full anyways, and I was beginning to get tired. I decided I'd just go to my Aunts house, since she lived nearby anyway.
When I reached her house, I rang the doorbell, and my cousin Toby answered. His strawberry blonde hair was perfectly in place and his cheesy grin when he saw me reminded me of a five year old. Toby was always one of my favorite cousins. I know you're not supposed to have favorites, but we grew up together, and being the same age really helped us get along. Not to mention he's the funniest guy I know. When I told him I was just here to use the restroom he looked disappointed.
After I finally made my way out of their house I started to head towards Mira's house. I was pretty sure I knew which direction it was and could only hope I was correct.
When I was finally able to confirm my suspicions, I saw a man with a black cloak. It looked like the same man from the haunted house. When I saw him stare at me, I stumbled backwards. I bumped into someone and was about to look back and say sorry, when two hands came and covered my face. One hand covered my eyes, so I couldn't see, and the other covered my mouth, so I couldn't scream. I tried to pull the hands away, but whoever was holding me was strong. A shock of electricity seemed to be flowing between me and the man. The same one I had experienced earlier. I heard another voice that was oddly familiar and suspected the guy was with the man trying to kidnap me.
The man started to pull me away in, from what I could tell, the opposite direction of Mira's house. I struggled to get out of his grip, but when I realized it was useless, I gave up and let him take me away.
