Chapter 5
JESSICA’S POV
“Kissing?” I turned to Chantelle, my eyes pleading her to tell me he was lying, but deep down I knew he was being honest, “Ms. Gold I…” but she cut me off, quite rudely putting her hand in front of my face as if to say ‘I don’t want to hear it.’
Xander spoke up, “What’s wrong, Jess? It’s just one little kiss,” he assured me. Maybe just one little kiss for him! He probably kisses a pretty girl everyday. I can’t kiss him, I hardly know him!
I’ve always dreamed of having a really romantic first kiss with someone I really liked, somewhere special that I would never forget. Not at a photo shoot while being forced to kiss someone I just met!
I searched my brain for an excuse but nothing came, and as their stares grew harder and more confused, my mouth blurted out, “I have a boyfriend.”
The words rushed right out of my mouth before I had time to stop them, looking up at Chantelle and Xander I assessed their reactions to see whether or not they had believed my lie. Ms. Gold obviously approved of me staying faithful to my nonexistent boyfriend, she smiled and “aw"ed. Xander, however, was unreadable. He looked away from me and showed no emotion, his bright eyes and smile had vanished momentarily until a flash of, what looked to be determination, crossed his face.
“I don’t see the problem,” he said, smirking at me.
Umm…unfortunately, once again, nothing clever or wise came to mind, as I got lost in his beautiful eyes. All I could see was this handsome boy standing in front of me. Xander looked really strong, standing there, challenging me. His golden hair fell perfectly just before his hard eyes. The shirt he was wore fit him amazingly, and left just enough to my imagination. His eyes blazed into mine and I returned his intense stare.
Luckily, Chantelle was there to back me up and distract me from my raging teenage hormones. Interrupting our little stare down, she spoke for me, “I understand Jess, and I think it’s important to remain faithful to your boyfriend,” she winked, “but I’m not so sure Mr. Hanley will appreciate you skipping out on your first shoot.”
She’s right; this was his challenge for me.
After sighing largely and swallowing my fears, I spoke, “Okay. Let’s just get this over with,” Chantelle nodded and wrapped her arm around my hips as she tried to convince me that my ‘boyfriend’ would understand. She led me towards our set.
The set was beautiful. The backdrop was pitch-black and covered with golden stars, to match our clothing, in various sizes and positions. It looked simple, yet elegant and very Christmas-y. Chantelle explained that the ad would be used around Christmas time and continued, “Okay darling, chin up. Be confident in yourself, you are a beautiful young lady. I have to go talk to my lighting guy, stay here,” then she briskly walked off the set and vanished around a corner.
Xander walked up to me, staring at my clearly visible legs, past my strikingly gold dress, until his eyes rested on my red, KissKiss Gold and Diamonds covered lips, the reason I was in this mess.
“You look nice in gold, but I don’t think it’s your color,” he flirted as he smirked at me. I remembered what Chantelle said, I’m beautiful, and to be confident. I smirked right back at him.
“Please,” I flirted wildly, “you think I look hot,” I winked my mascaraed eye and spun around so he could have the entire view.
Whoa where is this coming from?
