Chapter 4
JESSICA
Our limo came to a stop in front of a large glass building with a sign that read “Elite” in bold black letters.
Henry led me through the tall revolving doors into the lobby. White carpets covered the floor, a large painting, one I recognized, hung on the wall, the Birth of Venus. Venus is the roman goddess of beauty and love, I learned about her last year in History Class…absolutely stunning.
Beautiful people, men and women, are everywhere, how will I fit in? I glanced down at Henry. I should be like him. He is so little, yet he holds his chin high and walks like he owns the place.
Oh wait, he does.
As we walk through the lobby I notice a guy staring at me, but not only him; everyone is staring at me! I guess they aren’t very welcoming…But the stares aren’t at my face. I look down at myself; I’m still wearing my tiny bikini! The other models continued to scan over my tanned, smooth skin. Henry grabbed my hand and pulled me along, eager to show me to his father.
He led me up a wide staircase, taking my time to admire the delicate carpet on the stairs; I looked up when we reached the edge of the carpet. A boy with golden hair leaned against the wall at the top of the stairs, typing on his iPhone; he glanced at Henry when he heard us. His emerald green eyes landed on me, where they rested as he shamelessly checked me out. I cleared my throat in an attempt to scold him, but he only smirked.
“I’m Xander, I work here,” He spoke as his eyes lifted to meet mine. Well, I certainly wish I were wearing a shirt.
“You’re a model?” I asked. Looking him over it was completely obvious; he was tall, tan, and well muscled, really an overall attractive guy.
“Yep,” he confirmed, “I haven’t seen you around here before, you new?” He asked nonchalantly. I scanned him over one more time. He ran his hand through his flowing hair and smiled a blindingly beautiful smile at me causing me to melt a little bit inside.
“I am. Henry is showing me to his dad’s office. Nice meeting you,” I smiled and turned to walk away. Although I didn’t necessarily want to go, Henry was waiting for me.
“Nice to meet you too..?” he waited for me to tell him my name.
“Jessica. Jessica Reed,” I told him as I caught up to Henry.
“Jessica, nice to meet you. Oh and bye the way,” he called to me, I stopped and turned to face him, “That bikini looks good on you.” He winked. Sexy.
Okay that was a little bit rude of him to say, but I couldn’t deny the certain attraction I felt towards him. I responded flirtily, “Let’s talk again when I’m wearing clothes,” I winked back at him.
I strutted down the corridor, hearing my thongs slap the marble tile with every step I took. Swinging my hips courageously, I called back confidently, “It’s not polite to stare,” knowing he was still watching me. I could practically feel his eyes staring me down as I caught up with Henry.
MR. HANLEY’S POV
Henry opened my office door, and sat down in front of my proud ebony desk. A young girl followed him in, and took the leather seat next to him.
“Hey Dad,” said Henry, “This is Jessica, she wants to model here.”
“Hi,” waved the young lady. I smiled at her, she seemed sweet. Her blonde hair fell messily down her back and around her face, her electric blue eyes stared happily into mine. She smiled a beautiful smile that seemed to light up the entire room. She made me want to smile right back at her, how interesting.
There was something different about her. I work with models, beautiful ladies, all day long, but this one stood out right away. I couldn’t help but admire the sweetness that radiated from her.
“Hi, I’m Mr. Hanley, I own this agency. I do believe you, my lady, have come to the right place,” I reached out my hand in greeting; she met it with her soft, piano fingers.
“I’m Jessica Reed,” she said, sounding slightly intimidated.
“You’re hired, Jessica,” I told her, confident she would be valuable to the company. She looked bewildered, surprised I could judge her so quickly.
“Just like that?” she asked, “Shouldn’t I do something to prove myself or…”
“Well if you want to,” I agreed, “Henry, show Ms. Reed to Chantelle Gold’s set. I believe she is in need of a model.”
“The Chantelle Gold?! But I’ve never even modeled before!” Why is she so worried? Modeling is easy.
“Think of it as me testing you,” I assured her, “Okay. Enough with the chit-chat, goodbye sweetheart.”
Henry grabbed her hand and led her out of my office. I had a good feeling about this girl.
XANDER’S POV
I sat alone in Chantelle’s dressing room, trying to focus on math. Impossible when all I could think about was that girl in the hallway earlier, Jessica. Her electric eyes were burned into my memory. I have to see her again.
Chantelle opened the door and greeted me, “Hi honey, I finally found someone good looking enough to do the shoot!” she smiled, sounding very excited.
I laughed, Chantelle was very particular when it came to photo shoots. She had already turned away many hopeful, gorgeous models. This girl must be one of a kind.
“Cool,” I said, “Can I meet her?” I was genuinely curious, I mean, our picture would be printed by the thousands.
“You sure can!” then she leaned out the doorway and called, “Darling, get yourself in here!” Chantelle is the funniest person I know.
I had no idea who was going to walk through that door, but I had a good feeling about it.
Just my luck! Jessica walked in the room; her blond hair cascaded down her back like a brilliant beautiful waterfall. Her eyes glanced around the room and when they landed on me her eyebrows raised in surprise.
Wow. What are the odds that Jess is that one girl that Chantelle happens to accept? to like? Chantelle doesn't like anyone! Well, except me of course.
Jessica is wearing a transparent golden dress that barely covered her. She looked extremely uncomfortable. She spun around and whispered something to Chantelle, giving me an almost uninterrupted view. Damn I could get used to that ass.
I stood and walked over to the girls, “Hey Jess,” I greeted her, than joked, “I thought you said next time you’d be wearing more clothes...” She blushed and slapped me with the back of her hand.
“Shut up,” she glared at me.
Chantelle interrupted before I could respond, “You two already know each other? Then this pic will be quick. Oh! A rhyme,” she giggled.
“What’s this picture for anyways?” Jess asked. Oh no…nobody told her?
“It’s a picture for a new lipstick my client has come up with, in fact, you’re already wearing a shade,” Chantelle replied quickly.
“Okay, than what do we need him for?” she wondered aloud.
“Well you can’t be the only one in the picture! Besides, I have this great vision for you two,” Chantelle answered again, avoiding the real answer to Jessica's question.
“What is that?” Jess asked the last time. I’m ending this.
“We’ll be kissing,” I said and watched as her face turned from one of wonder to shock to worry.
