"Hey, you!"

Emily looked up to find the source of the words. Toward her walked two men. Emily immediately recognized them as the two men who sat post by the Leaf Village's gate and kept track of who entered and who left.

She could not remember their names, so she said, "Hi, you two."

"You must be the new soul-searcher," said the one with the bandage thingy (seriously, what is it?) across his nose. "The Anime Genie said you would be coming."

"Wow, that was pretty fast," remarked Emily.

"What's your name?" asked the other man.

"Emily."

"Well, Emily, we're supposed to take you straight to the hokage."

"Saratobi?"

"That's right. The Third Hokage."

Emily was shivering with a combination of anxiety, excitement, and caffeine overdose (she had drunk a lot of Dr. Pepper that afternoon). She had not expected to meet characters she recognized so soon. She followed the men up the hill toward the... whatever the building was called where the hokage stayed. She smiled up at the cliff face where the four hokages' faces were carved.

Who's-It, What's-His-Face, Saratobi, and Minato. And next would be Tsunade. Then Kakashi. Then, of course, Naruto.

This means that I am in the original series of Naruto, she realized. I wonder where Naruto is right now.

Just as she was thinking this, they came to the door to the Hall where the hokage was, and as if to answer her question, Naruto came dashing out of the door-- and ran straight into Emily.

"Ow, watch where you're going, will ya?" Naruto growled from the floor.

"You watch where you're going!" snapped Emily, angrily rubbing her sore arm.

"Hey, who are you?" asked Naruto.

"My name's Emily. You're Naruto Uzumaki!"

Naruto looked at her suspiciously. How did this strange girl know his name?

"Well, what are you here for, Freckles?" he asked, getting to his feet and folding his arms. He stood as straight as possible so he was as tall as her.

"I'm here to see the hokage."

"What for? All he's good for is to tell you what photos are and aren't acceptable for your graduation photo. And his grandson is a total twerp."

Emily couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh, did you just meet Konohamaro?" she asked.

"Yeah," he replied, giving her another suspicious look. "The little self-entitled twit thinks that he's going to be hokage!"

"So that's the part I'm at," said Emily, thoughtfully.

"What are you talking about?" questioned Naruto, sounding annoyed.

"Nothing."

Naruto watched her grumpily as she followed her escorts into the Hall, where the hokage sat waiting for her patiently.

"Ah, there you are," said the Third with a puff of his smoke pipe.

"Sir Hokage," Emily said. Then she hesitated. "Your majesty, sire, your nobleness."

Should she bow? She gave a hesitant attempt of a curtsy, which turned into more of a trip.

The hokage chuckled.

"No need for any of that," he said. "'Sir hokage' will do."

Emily turned bright red and nodded. "Yes, sir hokage."

"Okay, so the Anime Genie says that you have been watching so much anime that a part of your soul has literally been caught up in the anime dimension. You need our help to retrieve it."

Emily suddenly remembered that the Anime Genie had told her just that. It sounded pretty silly-- part of her soul, trapped in an "anime dimension?" It sounded like a lame excuse Sarah would come up with to bring her to the anime world. Oh well, as long as she was here, Emily didn't mind.

Emily became suddenly aware that the room was silent, and the hokage was staring at her expectantly.

"Oh, uh, yes," she stammered.

"Yes, what?" asked the hokage.

"Didn't you ask a question?"

"No."

"Oh. Then, um, I guess I wasn't listening."

The hokage groaned. "They never listen."

"By the way," said Emily, her train of thought leaving the station at full speed. "Do I have chakra?"

"W-what?" the hokage said, clearly taken aback.

"You know, can I do jutsu and stuff?"

The Third Hokage did not look like he was at all prepared for this kind of question. At least, not at this time.

"Didn't you hear what I said?" he asked, pulling his pipe from his mouth. "A part of your soul has been consumed by the anime dimension."

Emily looked at her hands and down at her body, then back up at the Third.

"I don't feel any different," she shrugged.

The hokage let out an exasperated sigh and rested his hand against his hand. They're all the same, he thought.

"Yes, you will have chakra," he replied. "But listen: if you don't release the part of your soul by the end of these five days, you will forever be trapped in this world."

Emily considered this for a second.

"Cool," she said. "I'd be fine with that."

"Yes, they all say that," sighed the hokage. "That is why I am going to let you stay here for a while-- get a tour of the village-- and meet some of the ninja before you set out on your quest."

Emily smiled gleefully.

"Umm, can Kakashi Hatake give me a tour?" she asked sheepishly.

The hokage sighed. "They all ask for Kakashi. No, I've already arranged for someone else to give you a tour-- more than one 'someone else' to be exact."

He gave a node to Bandage-Nose, who opened the door.

"OMG, OMG,OMG!" Emily gasped as Team 6 filed into the room.
