No leaves were left on the trees, just branches that swayed in the wind. Late September air brushed across my face as I walked down the all too familiar path. My steps were the only other noise, other then the rustling of the trees as the wind blew. Night was just starting to settle in. I kept my eyes on the ground as I walked getting closer and closer. Four years it had been and it never got easier. I turned the corner heading for her headstone. Natalia M. Jameson. It read in big letters across the top. The only sister I had, the only family that was left.
Natalia was three years older than me. Our mother had met her father when she was young. He promised her things, told her that she was everything he could have ever wanted. But only right after Natalia's birth he left, he couldn't move across the world fast enough. At only 19 mom was left to take care of her baby. You see all Mom had was her grandmother. My grandma: her mother, had gotten in an accident years before and her dad passed two years earlier from cancer. My great grandmother did all she could for mother but she was old herself with little life left in her. But that didn't stop her from coming running every time mom needed help with Natalia. She had passed two days after I was born."You know every weekend you come to see her and all three nights you just stand there. Almost lifeless starring, never saying a word."
"I didn't think it mattered Eryx. All my family is buried here and none of them could hear a thing I said if I had said something."
"You try so hard Mira." Is all I heard as he walked away.
