Samantha's POV

"But tell him that you were instrumental in getting the Chief's trial approved for phase 1 human testing--from mice to humans," Lexi tells Jackson while all three of us brush our teeth...in our towels. Now I know what you may be thinking. You're letting your half-naked boyfriend be in the same room with your half-naked best friend? And yes, I am. Lexi sees Jackson as a sibling and vice versa and no, we did not shower together. Nasty people. Besides, he's standing directly behind me, so it's not like he was pressed against her or anything. "I'm not doing that," Jackson sighs quite loudly while continuing to brush his teeth. My brows furrow, but I don't turn around to say anything. He has been a lot more stressed...conflicted even and he thinks I don't notice, but I do.

"Well, okay, I know you don't like bragging about yourself, but you don't even have to brag. I mean, your diabetes trial does it for you. It's gonna win every award. Seriously," Jackson leans between us, spitting out his toothpaste in the sink and then putting his toothbrush away. "Just make sure that he knows that you--"

"I got it," He snaps, my eyes widening slightly at his sharp tone. Okay, something is wrong. He is usually never this snappy in the morning...at work, that's a whole different story. He places a small kiss on my cheek and then turns to leave the bathroom. "That you have been instrumental--" Lexie tries again. "Got it," He tells her before leaving the bathroom. "He doesn't get it," She tells me as I spit my toothpaste out in the sink. I roll my eyes with a slight smile, mentally making a note to talk to Jackson later.

"Hey, Hunt. Uh, my knee replacement got canceled, and I need to break some bones," I hear Callie tell Hunt while checking the clipboard of all the E.R. patients. Today I had E.R. And yes, it is usually fun...when there is a trauma and I know that sounds bad but that's how it is here. "Aren't you supposed to mend them?" I hear Hunt ask, his voice getting louder the closer he gets.

"Well, it's my first day back and I left my baby for the first time since we got home and I need to remember why I love being a surgeon so much or I'm afraid I will walk out of here and never come back. It doesn't have to be big. Just a sprained ankle, hairline fracture, anything,"

I then hear a baby start crying. Turning around, and much to my surprise, I see Mark standing there with Sofia in the little carrier that's strapped to his chest.

"What? What are you doing here?" I watch as a big smile appears on Callie's face as she makes her way to Mark and Sofia, cooing gently while taking Sofia from Mark's arms. "It brings your daughter to work day," Mark gloats, seeing as all the female nurses were giving him attention because of Sofia. Cough, man whore, cough cough. I laugh at my thoughts while moving forward to see Sofia. "Ah! She's adorable," I coo as I stroke my index finger down little Sofia's cheek. "No, it's not,"

"I bathed her, changed her. I fed her, I napped her. We read a book, and played with that little hanging, jingling thing ... And it was still only 11:30. I needed some adult contact," He tells her as Callie continues to cradle Sofia in her arms.

"Please take this baby away from me"

"Sure."

I look back and forth between Mark and Callie, a small smirk on my face. "I'm serious. Take her, Mark," He has to physically take Sofia out of Callie's arms and strap her back in.

"Okay."

"Oh, my God. Oh, my God. This baby's crack. She's a crack baby."

"You shouldn't call her that," I let out a laugh before Hunt called the both of us. "Torres, Karev. You're in luck. Motorcycle crash 20 minutes out," I pump my fist in the air, quickly placing a kiss on Sofia's head before darting off.
