Chapter Eight

Awee, guys! You finally gave me 15 votes! Took y'all a while but that's alright(: The story will pick up soon. Also, thank all of you guys for answering my questions! I really loved the answers I got and gave me some ideas! Well, I'll make this one a bit longer, well I'll try! Lol. I want at least 20 votes on this chapter. Cheer today was alright. I learned most of the routine and it's getting easier to remember. They have me flying and some of the stunts ain't going up as well as they did in my old group. Right now, we're in the middle of trying new stunts. They're not new for anyone, we're just trying different people.

"Okay, since none of your guys have stunted together, lets start with a simple prep." Ashley called out to us. We got in our position and it was very awkward because my bases didn't go as low as I'd like them to because it was harder for me to put my weight on their shoulders.

"Hang on, can the bases go down lower? It's harder for me to push myself up off their shoulders when I have short legs and they're up high." The bases got lower, just the way I liked them and then we waited for the backspot to call the stunt.

"Prep, 1, 2."

Okay, dip, dip, push! Sticking the stunt, I hit a 'High 'V''.

"Cradle, 1, 2." I felt my bases dip and push me upwards. I extended everything and pulled my belly button to the ceiling. (Not literally) I rode the cradle as much as I could and when I felt gravity taking over, I snapped into a 'v' and caught myself on my bases.

"That was good guys! Alright. Lets try an extension and cradle from that, reload and extension again but do a fold down. Can you guys handle that?" Listening to Ashley speak, I could hear Cody's little whimpering and looked straight at Derikk, a guy that I've got to know a bit today and he knew what I meant. He went straight towards her and took care of her. the team has been so supportive about Cody and they absolutely love her! Ashley asked if I was ready and just nodded a quick yes. Getting in position, I went over everything in my head of what I was supposed to do.

I landed the fold down perfectly and my group was doing great. We quickly moved on for those stunts to being able to get our lib, basket tosses, half ups, 360, and now we're working on a three stunt, stunt. Since I'm the smallest on the team and the best flyer. I have to do the bigger part of it.

There's three stunts and I'm the middle one. The two sides, we start out with putting them in preps. Me, I load in for a basket toss but I grab their hands. We dip twice and do the basket toss but when I come down, they let go. I cradle and reload. I lift my arms up and they grab on again. We dip twice and I do a front flip landing into an extension. The two side preps turn outward so we're a pyramid. We fold down for those stunts and get ready for our next stunts.

After practice, I was getting Cody ready to go so we could go home. Ashley walks up to me and starts talking.

"We need to go to the dean so we can talk to him about Cody. I'm sure he wouldn't mind but we need to find out a plan for her. How about we go next week because I'm beat and I want to go home. You look pretty tired yourself."

"Sounds good to me! Thanks for the help today by the way." I smiled at her and started to walk off. I put Cody in the back of my car and got in myself. I buckled up and started the car. On my way home, Zach called me. I pulled into a gas station to get some gas and I didn't want to drive and talk on the phone at the same time.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked Zach, answering the phone.

"Nothing, but Austin, you need to get to the hospital right now. Your dad was in a car accident and he'd in surgery right now," he sounded panicky. Oh, gosh, my father. In the hospital? In surgery? Because of a car accident? He's always been an amazing driver! Tears were already falling and I didn't want to drive like this with Cody in the car.

"Zach, will you come get Cody and me? I's at the gas station. It's called Kum & Go. It's about 5 minutes away from home on highway 5. I can't drive like this and especially with Cody in the car,"

"Of course! I'll be there in about 10 minutes. I'm at the hospital getting in my car. Wait there for me," With that he hung up. And I just sank to the ground with my knee's up to my chest with me bawling my eyes out.

Yikes! Surgery? This could be bad.. I decided to put a bit of another twist in the story. Okay, so here's the 2 questions.
