"Mitchell!" His mother called him and he narrowed his eyes. "Come here!" He grinds his teeth together before exiting his room and walking down the hallway to the kitchen.

When he reaches the counter, she slams a piece of paper down and he immediately recognises it as his report card.

"All you got are C's! What the hell happened? At the start of this year you had straight A's and that was only seven months ago!" She screams and Mitch stares at the report. He thought he did pretty well.

"Are you getting bad marks, boy?!" His father rumbles from the doorway and stomps over, snatching up the piece of paper. "It's because of that fag again, isn't?! I'll sort him out again..."

"Don't say that word," Mitch mumbles and his father glares at him. "Don't say that word!" Mitch screams but immediately regrets it when he feels his head snap to the side, a stinging feeling throughout his cheek.

"Don't you yell at me!" He father shouts and Mitch nods, his gaze on the ground. "Go to your room! You ain't getting dinner tonight!"

And Scott wondered why Mitch wouldn't talk to his parents.
