Chapter 3: Oh, Joy~

"And that, clase, is the story that has been passed down through generations in my family." Senora Morarty told us as the bell rung. "It has serious sentimental value for El Dia De Los Muertos in mi familia."

I rolled my eyes as Genny stood next to me. "Valor sentimental seria." I muttered under my breath, making Genny laugh. "We should be taking Latin now. OP just had to stick us in Spanish again, huh?" she said.

"Not that you need it." I laughed as we walked into the hallway. "You can already recite a phrase perfectly to trap the demons. What else do you need?"

"I need to learn Latin!" she cried.

"So switch."

"I can't until after this quarter."

"Yeah, and after that, I'm switching to Italian." I said, stopping at a vending machine and buying a bottle of diet coke. Genny looked at me skeptically. "Really? You're going to learn Italian? Sei proprio un idiota."

"Taci. Sai ho bisogno italiana tanto quanto è necessario Latina." I retorted, sipping my soda. "I'll see you at lunch, okay?" I looked up and saw Eve and her girlfriend kissing one another goodbye, and then Eve coming to join us.

"Hello friends!" she smiled, slinging her forearms on our shoulders. "Chase, you ready?"

"What's the rush? OP doesn't give us ten minutes in between classes for nothing." I told her, pulling out my phone and checking my messages. Eve leaned over my shoulder as I read a text from Selene. "Who 'ya talking to?" she asked me, poking my side.

"Nobody spe-"

"Selene." Genny interrupted me. I sighed and nodded. Eve jumped up and down. "What did she say? What did she say?"

From: Love

Meet me by the elevator after second. Bottom floor. Love youu.

She finished off the message with a heart, and I blushed. "She's cute." Eve smiled. "You gonna respond?" I nodded.

To: Love

M'kay, see you then. Love you too.

I ended mine with a heart, then locked my phone, and shoved it in my back pocket. The two minute warning bell went off as everyone started to say goodbye and disbanded their amoebas as they hurried to their next class. "Come on, Eve. English time." I looked at my sister. "Later, Genny." I said as she walked off to go to her Biotechnology academy. She rose her hand in the air and waved as she met up with her guy friend, Jared, and walked to class together.

"So, anyways.." Eve tried to make conversation. "How are you and Selene nowadays?"

"Great. Why do you ask?" I asked her, peering at her out of the corner of my eye. "Oh, just wondering." she said aimlessly. I looked at her, feeling all the color draining from my face. "Eve, if there's a rumor going around..."

Eve stoppped walking and stared at me. "You mean... you guys haven't heard? It's all over school. How could nobody have asked you?"

"Eve!" I yelled. "Asked me what?" The one minute bell sounded, and the courtyard was empty except for one of the ASL classes and us. She started to walk again, grabbing my arm and hurried me along, talking to me as we rushed.

"There was a rumor going around that Selene was whoring around with the guys in the art club." she spilled. "I immediately denied it was true, as Selene would never whore around with anyone; she's not that kind of girl. Then one of the guys showed me a hickey he had and asked me, 'How did I get this then?' and I told him, 'Maybe it's just one of those hopeless bitches you screw every time she asks.' and he shut his mouth." I nodded in agreement as the words came out.
