Chapter 8: Bullies~
First period came and went, then second, and finally third had arrived. It brought memories to Selene's eyes, paining her in every way. She didn't want to think about Chasity, but every time it happened, she felt this inconsolable feeling wash over her. She was finally being stripped of who she was and who she had become, leaving her with almost nothing but an empty vessel of a human.
She walked into the band room, and as she set her backpack down, she felt eyes on her, heard whispering about her. A girl named Daniella approached her. She was a flute player who switched to french horn for concert season, and Selene thought she was one of the most annoying people she'd ever met.
"Selene!" Daniella squealed, giving the teen a bear hug. Selene instantly pushed the obnoxious horn player off of her and scowled. "What?" she asked, spitting fire. Daniella stared at her, mischief glinting in her annoying hazel eyes. "How's your Snow White doing?" she said, making a kissy face at her. Selene felt like doing something. So, she right hooked Daniella in the face, making the small, annoying horn player fly into a chair and fall to the floor, her nose bleeding.
"Selene, what the hell?" Daniella asked, sobbing. "What'd you do that for?" By now, everyone was peering over their music stands to look at the two teens, and trying to videotape what was happening. Selene took her steel-toed combat boot and kicked a chair away from her victim. She was done playing children's games.
"Tease me with anything again, and your nose won't be the only thing that gets broken." she grumbled at Daniella. The small girl stood up and faced Selene, tears in her eyes. She tried to swing a punch at Selene's stomach, but she saw it coming and grabbed her wrist, twisting it back around.
"You're fighting a losing battle." Selene whispered in Daniella's ear. "Just give up." Daniella squeaked out, "Mercy," making Selene release her grip. Daniella jumped away and whined to her friends, and went to the bathroom to clean up before blood got all in the carpet. Everyone stood gathered around Selene, and when she shot them an annoyed glance, they all backed off. She walked into the locker room and grabbed her flute, putt it together, and tuned herself.
Kallie and Genevieve arrived minutes later. Kallie got out her Tenor Saxophone and Genevieve pulled out her viola and plucked absentmindedly on the strings, playing the guitar part for Not Too Late by Three Days Grace. Selene didn't necessarily have any issue with that, it's just that Chasity always listened to that one song. While it got on her nerves after a while, she still loved how happy Chasity looked when she sung along to the song.
Selene sung the chorus and Genevieve came over and sat next to her, plucking the strings. Then over came Kallie, playing the bass part on a guitar she'd randomly picked up. The whole group got into it and some of the chorus kids that also knew the song began to sing with Selene, and everyone else sat, watched, and videotaped the teenagers.
Everyone in the band had to audition to get in, so only the extremely musically talented kids got to join. The band director walked in at the moment the song was over and told them all to settle down and take their seats. "Selene." he said, looking directly at the first chair flute player. "Can I see you in my office for a minute?"
All of the kids went, "Ooh..." as if they were in elementary school again, and Selene nodded and got up, setting her flute down on the chair. They both walked into his office, and Holt closed the door behind them, making Selene extremely nervous. "What's this about?" she asked the teacher, who held out his hand, which held a note. "This was something I thought you might have wanted to read." he said sadly. "It was written by Chasity."
