Chapter 4: Into Blackpool~
I awoke in a small white room in a small white bed. My head was throbbing erratically. I rememebred what had just happened, and my eyes widened with fear.
"Selene!" I cried. "Selene, where are you?" I began to sob uncontrollably, burying my face in my hands. "Selene..."
"Oh my goodness, Chasity, calm yourself." said a girl's voice. I looked up through teary eyes at a petite girl with dark cocoa hair and bright hazel eyes. She wore a sleeveless red dress with a black underskirt. She had on black heels and red lace gloves, her eye makeup and lips standing out. Everything on her was either blood red or black. "You wouldn't want to get sick, would you?"
"Who are you?" I asked. "Where am I?"
"Oh, sorry, I forgot." she said, placing her fingertips on her forehead, shaking her head. "You're new here. This is Blackpool. My name is Lydia." she gave me a little curtsy. "Come on." she said, stretching out her hand, her ombre nails of red to black clicking against one another.
"Where are we going?" I asked her.
"Anywhere but here." she told me. "You're lucky you got in here. And now I'm helping you break out."
I stared at Lydia. "Who are you, exactly?"
She stared at me momentarily. "You're so smart. The queen is going to be delighted to meet you. I am the queen's faithful servant. I assassinate whoever she asks me to. In return, my crimes against her majesty are forgiven."
"You're a criminal?" I asked her, incredulously. She nodded. "Yes, but we don't have time for this. Everyone is out to get me as a bounty. My job for the queen is a complete secret." I took her outstretched hand and stood up. "What now?" I asked.
"Now, we get you fitted into one of my corsets, dresses, pairs of shoes, and we get you out in the open, fresh air." I sighed and followed her into the restroom. "Okay, take off your gown." I stared at her again. "Dude, no!" I almost screamed." She hushed me. "I'm not wearing-"
"A bra?" she asked, then laughed at herself. "Like that little nickname? I came up with it myself."
"Bra? it's been like that for years." I told her.
"Honey, your world is in the future." she told me, forcing my gown off of me. "This is the sixteenth century. Want to hop onto our customs? Becasue it might be a good idea to do so."
I sighed and shimmied into the corset. I held onto the counter and winced every time Lydia pulled on the laces, making it as tight as possible. Soon enough, the corset was tied, and I was left alone to put on the dress, shoes, and accessories Lydia had picked out for me.
I looked ar myself in the large mirror behind me when I was done ans smiled. The dress was black with a white underskirt. My shoes were the same as Lydia's; lace up boots with two inch heels. I'm not too sure how she runs in them.
"Hey, Chasity, you done dressing yet?" Lydia asked, peering in. Her eyes lit up when she saw me. "Oh wow! You look so much like us! Okay, now I have to add some stuff." She took her time applying black eyeshadow on me, adding pink lip color, and making sure she resembled me and vice-versa.
"Your nails match perfectly." she told me. I looked at the manicure I'd gotten on Tuesday. They were white french tips, except the ring finger, which was black. They had black, white, and silver wisps on them. "Okay, now put this on." she said as she handed me a black top hat wiht feathers and lace, white and black lace up gloves, and as I put them on, she put a black diamond choker necklace on me.
"where'd you get this?" I asked her. She grinned at me in the mirror. "The queen told me to give it to you." she explained. "She's been waiting for you, Chasity."
