Chapter 10: Everything~
I awoke to sunlight filtering through my mainly-closed satin curtains. I sighed and sat up, stretching. It's been two weeks since I came to Blackpool, and the townspeople of the Hearts Kingdom look at me as an idol.
It's hard to believe that I actually came from New York two weeks ago. Where I was developing a Long Island accent, it was now a think Victorian British accent. I called the queen my mother by force of habit, and I couldn't break it. It was always "mother" this, and "mother" that. My mindset couldn't even seem to accommodate the words, "my queen" with this woman's soul and being.
I swung my legs over the side of the bed and lifted up my nightgown's skirt, staring at my thigh. "Two weeks." I said to my scars. "It's been two long, damn weeks." A knock on my door sent me out of my daydream, and I watched as Leah entered my room. "Excuse me, miss, but your mother is requesting your presence in the royal court." she said, curtsying.
She walked towards me and helped me out of bed. She was wearing a short brown steampunk dress, and her shoes were thigh-high lace-up boots. Her eyeshadow was a bronzy-golden color with black eyeliner. She wore a brown choker necklace and she wore a golden leaf headband and a golden skeleton hand on both of hers.
"Leah, would you mind picking out my clothing for today?" I asked her, my long, now black hair falling over my shoulders. "I have to start on my hair." I got up and walked over to my vanity and began to brush out my hair, the ends stained with red hair dye I had my mother order.
"Princess Chasity-" Leah said from my closet. My nerves snapped. "Leah!" I screamed. "Come here, darling." I said quietly, motioning with my finger. She picked a dress, leggings, and shoes and walked over to me. I grasped my curling iron and threw it at her head. Leah caught it with her only free hand and continued to walk towards me.
"Forgive me, miss." Leah apologized, bowing towards me. I slapped her across the face and grabbed her jaw. "Don't call me princess again. I hate that word."
"I understand, miss." she said, then plugged in the iron. "Let's get you into your corset."
Thirty minutes went by and I was ready for the court. I was dressed in my favorite black and white dress, and I wore my newe lace leggings with buckle-up and lace-up heels. My eyeliner was lined with a silver, and the eyeshadow was smoky.
I had my white leather gloves with black satin ribbons on my hands, and my left middle finger held a ruby ring. Around my neck was a black choker necklace with a red rose in the center with an onyx gem hanging from the base of the rose.
My hairstyle was curly, my red under layer poking out through the bottom. My lipwear was a light pink, and before walking out, Leah placed my diamond tiara on my head as I grabbed my mace and whip and headed to the court. My heels tipped down the hallway, and I burst through the door with an unknown sense of urgency that wasn't there seconds ago.
"Mother!" I cried, making my way down the hallway. "Mother, I'm here. Who are we trying today?"
My mother looked at me and patted the seat next to her. "My dearest," she said. "you might recognize these people." she grinned at me the snapped her fingers. "Bring them in!" she screamed, trying to sound bitersweet. I took my seat.
The wide doors flung open and I was horrified when I saw Celeste and Lydia getting carried in my their hands, mannacles binding htem at their wrists and ankles. "Oh my gosh." I sighed. "What are they doing here? Mother, what is their charge?"
"They've been charged for kidnapping my daughter." she informed me. "Was this accusation true?"
"Mother-" I tried.
