Sirius looked up when the door to the fifth-year Gryffindor male dormitory opened, and grinned when he saw Remus walk in. It was a cool autumn Saturday, and Sirius and James had just pranked the entire Slytherin house by placing dungbombs everywhere in the Slytherin common room. Not one of their best or most creative pranks, but a classic they hadn't pulled since third year. Sirius anticipated the anger of the Slytherins during dinner, half of them saying 'Who could have possibly done that?' And the other half saying 'those damn Marauders.'
"Hey, Moony. What's up?" Sirius asked as he stood to greet him.
"Not much," he replied while he approached his trunk and began fishing around for something.
"Whatcha looking for?" Sirius asked.
Moony looks rather cute when he's flustered, Sirius thought, his grin growing.
"An extra quill, I can't find any in my bag." Remus frantically shoved spare pieces of parchment, ink bottles and books, yet couldn't seem to find any quills. Sirius went to his own trunk and found five perfectly new quills.
"Here, take mine." Sirius poked Remus in the back with one of the quills and tickled the back of his neck with the feather. Remus slapped the back of his neck to swat away the feather and instead smacked the back of his neck. Sirius started laughing.
"Ow!" Remus exclaimed, standing up and rubbing his neck with one hand and taking the quills with the other. He sat down with a piece of parchment and began writing.
"Sorry, mate," Sirius said, still chuckling. "What do you need the quills for?"
Remus looked up at Sirius with a single eyebrow arched.
Hot damn that is one sexy eyebrow.
"No, I meant like who are you writing to and why?"
Remus's breath caught, if only for a second before replying. "Honestly, to you, Prongs, and Wormtail."
Sirius was taken aback. "Why?"
Remus looked at Sirius intently, as if he was searching his eyes for something. "James told me that you all are finally full-fledged Animagus."
Sirius frowned. "Dammit, James." Je turned back to Remus. "I was going to surprise you by jumping on you in dog form!"
Remus chuckled. "I thought the least I could do was write you each a personal thank you note."
"Moony, you don't have to do that. We're you best mates. It's what we do!"
"All best friends turn into illegal animagi just because one of them is a werewolf?"
"Yes."
Remus laughed and Sirius smiled.
"How can I ever repay you?" Remus asked. He was looking deep into Sirius's eyes again. The butterflies in his stomach were throwing a wild party.
"Surprise me," Sirius said, smirking.
This time, Remus raised both eyebrows.
"Surprise you, eh?"
"Yeah, just totally catch me off guard. Shock me. Make me—"
Siruis's sentence was cut off by Remus grabbing the collar of his shirt, yanking him forward, and kissing him. Sirius's eyes widened in surprise before closing them. They stayed that way for what could have been decades, and Sirius's hand was just above Remus's waist when, just as quickly as he had pulled forward, he yanked back.
"Sorry." Remus's eyes had widened, probably in shock, and he took a small step back. "I didn't mean for it to...go on...I..." Remus's voice trailed off when Sirius gently took his hand. Sirius took Remus's other hand in his own other hand.
"You have officially shocked me, Moony. In the best way"
The right corner of Remus's mouth quirked up. "Was that an acceptable way to repay you?"
Sirius smiled more. "Very acceptable. In fact, if you wouldn't mind, I must request more of this payment." Sirius tried to raise a single eyebrow but miserably failed. Remus laughed.
Sirius put one hand in Remus's hair and the other on his waist while Remus placed both of his hands on Sirius's waist. They looked into each other's eyes for a moment before they leaned into each other again. Once their lips touched, however, the dormitory door banged open and James and Peter came in talking rather loudly, but they both froze when they saw Sirius and Remus. James and Peter stared with surprised eyes and Remus and Sirius slowly backed away from each other, save for holding each other's hands. James looked from Sirius, to Remus's and to their hands a few times before he started laughing.
"HAHAHA! You owe me exactly five galleons and four sickles, Peter!"
Peter grumbled as he fished around for the coins, then promptly placed them in James's hand. He grinned smugly while pocketing the change.
"I'm sorry but were you two betting on us?" Remus asked incredulously.
"Yeah. The deal was that I owe him money if you two get together before Christmas," Peter explained.
"Yes. Thank you both. Now come along Wormtail. Let's give these two lovebirds some privacy." James winked as he shut the door on the couple.
Remus looked at Sirius and smiled. "Did you know about this bet?"
"Of course not! I would have gotten James his money sooner, had I known." Sirius flirtatiously winked.
"I'm honored," Remus said as he kissed Sirius again.———
